Allocate ECS costs with resource groups - Resource Management

Create cost centers and map your resource groups to them to allocate costs at the project level.

Scenarios

A gaming company is developing three projects: G1, G2, and G3. Each project requires multiple types of resources. The company uses a single Alibaba Cloud account with more than 100 Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances. The finance department wants separate bills for each project.

Procedure

Log on to the Resource Management console and go to the Resource Group page to create resource groups.
1. Create a resource group for each project. The names of the resource groups correspond to those of the project. The names of the resource groups are R-G1, R-G2, and R-G3.

2. Move the ECS instances to the desired resource groups based on the actual users of the ECS instances.

Go to the cost centers page in the Expenses and Costs console. Create cost centers named R-G1, R-G2, and R-G3. Then, configure automatic allocation rules to assign ECS instances to the corresponding cost center based on each instance's resource group. For more information, see Cost Centers.
Go to the Split Bill page in the Expenses and Costs console to view your bills organized by cost center.
