After you apply for a public endpoint for your ApsaraDB RDS instance, you can connect to the RDS instance by using the public endpoint. This topic describes how to connect to an RDS instance from an external server by using the public endpoint.
You are not charged for the application for a public endpoint and the Internet traffic that is generated after you use the public endpoint to connect to your RDS instance. For more information, see Billable items.
To improve the access speed, connection stability, and security, we recommend that you use an internal endpoint to connect an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance to an RDS instance. For more information, see How do I connect to an ApsaraDB RDS instance?
