ApsaraDB RDS:Why is my ApsaraDB RDS instance in the "Creating temporary instance" state?

Last Updated:Nov 24, 2023

If you restore databases and tables to your original RDS instance in the ApsaraDB RDS console, the RDS instance enters the Creating temporary instance state. For more information, see Restore individual databases and tables of an ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance.

The Creating temporary instance state indicates that the databases and tables are being restored to the original RDS instance. The period of time that is required for the restoration varies based on the volume of data in the databases and tables.

You can click the 2 icon in the upper-right corner of the instance details page to view the progress of the restoration task.

Important
  • If a restoration task starts, it cannot be suspended or interrupted.
  • If a restoration task is in progress, we recommend that you do not start another restoration task. If you start another restoration task, the "The operation failed. The RDS instance is not in a ready state." error message is reported. You can run a restoration task only after no restoration tasks are in progress.
  • If a restoration task is in progress, you can perform backup operations.
