The monitoring page (old version) lets you control how often ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL collects performance metrics. Three collection intervals are available: every 5 seconds, every 60 seconds, and every 300 seconds.
Monitoring frequency configuration is available only on the monitoring page (old version). Some frequencies require additional fees.
On the monitoring page (new version), the monitoring frequency is fixed at every 5 seconds, free of charge. No configuration is needed.
Supported frequencies
Available frequencies depend on your RDS instance edition and memory capacity.

If your RDS instance uses cloud disks, the monitoring frequency is fixed at every 60 seconds. Changes to the monitoring frequency do not take effect.
Billing
Only the 5-second monitoring frequency incurs charges. The 60-second and 300-second frequencies are free of charge.

Data retention
RDS retains monitoring data for the most recent 30 days. Data beyond this range may not be available.
Set the monitoring frequency
Go to the Instances page. In the top navigation bar, select the region in which the RDS instance resides. Then, find the RDS instance and click the ID of the instance.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Monitoring and Alerts.
Click Old Version on the right side of the page.
NoteMonitoring frequency can only be configured on the monitoring page (old version). On the monitoring page (new version), the frequency is fixed at every 5 seconds.
On the Standard Monitoring tab, click Set Monitoring Frequency.
In the Set Monitoring Frequency dialog box, select a monitoring frequency and click OK.
NoteThe 60-second and 300-second frequencies are free of charge. The 5-second frequency incurs additional fees. See Billing for details.
If your instance does not support the 5-second frequency, the option is grayed out (disabled) in the Set Monitoring Frequency dialog box.
