Background information
The last(ins_size) metric is used to monitor the total storage usage of an ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance that uses standard SSDs or enhanced SSDs (ESSDs). In some cases, this metric cannot reflect the actual storage usage. Alibaba Cloud optimizes the metric to improve its accuracy. This helps you better monitor the total storage usage of your RDS instance.

Effective date
Starting February 28, 2023, the optimized metric is used in Alibaba Cloud regions in phases.
Impact
On the Monitoring and Alerts page of your RDS instance that uses cloud disks, the value of the last(ins_size) metric may be slightly different from its previous value and may fluctuate. This affects the triggering of alerts that are related to the storage usage of the RDS instance. After the optimization, the value of this metric and the triggering of alerts are more accurate.
