Managed Service for Prometheus uses instances as the core unit for organizing metrics, dashboards, alert rules, and service discovery configurations. You can create, tag, configure, and delete Prometheus instances from the ARMS console.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure that you have:
Create a Prometheus instance

Log on to the ARMS console.

In the left-side navigation pane, choose Managed Service for Prometheus > Instances.

On the Instances page, click Create Prometheus Instance.

On the Create Instance page, configure the instance settings as prompted and click Create Now.
Manage tags
Tags are key-value pairs that you assign to Prometheus instances for grouping and filtering.

Each instance supports up to 20 tags. Tag keys must be unique. If you add a tag with a duplicate key, the new value overwrites the existing one.

Tags are region-specific. Tags in one region are not visible in other regions.

When a tag is removed from all instances, it is automatically deleted.
Add a tag

On the Instances page, select a region in the top navigation bar and find the target instance.

In the Tags column, hover over the
icon and click Edit. -
In the Configure Tags dialog box, specify Tag Key and Tag Value, and then click OK.
Filter instances by tag

On the Instances page, select a region in the top navigation bar and click Filter by Tag in the Instances section.

Select a tag key and value from the drop-down list.
Remove a tag

On the Instances page, select a region in the top navigation bar and find the target instance.

In the Tags column, hover over the
icon and click Edit. -
In the Configure Tags dialog box, click the
icon next to the tag, and then click OK.
Change the billing method
Managed Service for Prometheus supports pay-as-you-go, subscription, and pay-by-observable-data billing. You can switch from pay-as-you-go or subscription to pay-by-observable-data. For details, see Billing modes.
Change the storage duration
By default, Prometheus instances retain metric data for 90 days. You can extend the storage duration to 180 days.

On the Instances page, select a region in the top navigation bar and click the instance name to open the instance details page.

In the left-side navigation pane, click Settings, and then click the Storage Duration tab.

Select a storage duration (90 days or 180 days) and click Save.
Configure a global aggregation instance
A global aggregation instance combines multiple Prometheus instances into a single view for unified monitoring and management.

On the Instances page, select a region in the top navigation bar, find the global aggregation instance, and click Edit in the Actions column.

In the Edit Aggregate Instance panel, configure the following parameters and click Edit Aggregate Instance.

Global Aggregation Instance Name
The name of the global aggregation instance.
Endpoint
The region where the aggregation instance is deployed.
Select the instances to be aggregated
The Alibaba Cloud account and Prometheus instances to aggregate.
Delete a Prometheus instance
Deleting a Prometheus instance permanently removes the following data. This action cannot be undone.

On the Instances page, select a region in the top navigation bar and click Delete in the Actions column.

In the confirmation dialog box, click OK.
