    How do I upgrade the minor version of a cluster?

    Note You cannot upgrade to a specific version. For details, see Upgrade the cluster version.
    1. Log on to the PolarDB console.
    2. In the upper-left corner, select the region where the cluster is deployed.
    3. Find the cluster and click the cluster ID.
    4. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Settings and Management > Version Management.
    5. On the Minor Version Upgrade tab, in the Upgrade Version section, select an upgrade scope:
      • Upgrade PolarDB Database Proxy and Kernel
      • Upgrade Kernel Only
      • Upgrade PolarDB Database Proxy Only -- Upgrades only read/write splitting features such as consistency level, transaction splitting, and whether to offload reads from the primary node.
      Note If PolarProxy or the database engine is already the latest version, the corresponding option is unavailable.
    6. Click Upgrade Now or Upgrade in Maintenance Window.
      Note If you select Upgrade in Maintenance Window, you can view or cancel the task on the Scheduled Tasks page. For details, see View or cancel a scheduled task.
    7. Click OK.

    What are the impacts of a minor version upgrade?

    During a minor version upgrade:

    • The upgrade takes less than 30 minutes. The cluster restarts during the process.
    • A transient connection of about 30 seconds occurs.
    • Some change-related features are unavailable, but query-related features work normally.
    • You cannot downgrade PolarProxy or the database engine after the upgrade.
    Note The upgrade duration is not visible in the console. For details, see Usage notes.

    Why does a minor version upgrade take so long?

    The upgrade involves multiple internal steps, and the progress bar may not reflect the actual progress accurately. For details on upgrade impacts, see Usage notes.

    Why does my task list show an upgrade I did not submit?

    The backend system performs routine maintenance to keep clusters running normally. Set a maintenance window during off-peak hours to minimize business impact.

    Note Proactive maintenance events are communicated by email in advance. After you confirm the events, batch operations are performed.

    How do I change the switching time for a minor version upgrade?

    Set a maintenance window during off-peak hours to minimize business impact. For details, see Set the maintenance window.

    After a task is created, you can view or cancel it in the console. For details, see View or cancel a scheduled task.

    Important Scheduled events cannot be canceled.

    How do I view version iteration history?

    Version updates depend on the development progress of new features and bug fixes.

    How do I upgrade the major version of the kernel or PolarProxy?

    To upgrade PolarProxy from 1.x to 2.x, authorize the action time period and cluster ID, then Submit a ticket to contact Alibaba Cloud engineers.
