The cluster recycle bin stores released PolarDB clusters. This topic describes the principles, retention periods, and billing for the cluster recycle bin of PolarDB.
Usage notes
If you select to retain backups for an extended period of time when you unsubscribe from or release a cluster, the backup are moved and retained in the cluster recycle bin after the cluster is unsubscribed from or released.
The retention rules for backups moved to the cluster recycle bin varies based on the cluster edition.
For Enterprise Edition clusters, level-1 backups are asynchronously converted into level-2 backups at approximately 150 MB/s. A small fee is charged for maintaining these backups.
For Standard Edition clusters, a small fee is charged for maintaining level-1 backups.
For clusters in the cluster recycle bin, you can choose to restore or completely delete them based on your needs.
You are charged for the backup sets in the cluster recycle bin. You can delete the backup sets at any time to reduce costs.
If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment after the backup sets are moved to the cluster recycle bin, you cannot restore clusters from these backup sets. You must top up your Alibaba Cloud account before you can restore clusters from the backup sets in the cluster recycle bin again.
If you do not top up your Alibaba Cloud account within 14 days after the payment becomes overdue, the backup sets in the cluster recycle bin are released. The data of these backup sets cannot be recovered.
Retention periods
After a cluster enters the cluster recycle bin, its backup files can be retained for a maximum period of 7,300 days.
Billing
The billing rules for maintaining backups in the cluster recycle bin vary based on the cluster edition.
For Enterprise Edition clusters, no fees are charged for level-1 backups. Fees are applied only after level-1 backups are converted into level-2 backups.
For Standard Edition clusters, a small fee is charged for maintaining level-1 backups.
