OSS deploys services across multiple regions worldwide. Each region supports public, internal, and dual-stack endpoints. The following tables list the endpoints and internal VIP CIDR blocks for each region. For details about use cases and best practices for each endpoint type, see Access OSS through endpoints and bucket domain names.
When you access files such as HTML or images through OSS access domain names, browsers download them instead of previewing them online. To enable online previews, access OSS through custom domain names.
Public cloud
This environment applies to most business scenarios and spans multiple regions worldwide.
Due to a policy change to improve compliance and security, starting March 20, 2025, new OSS users must use a custom domain name (CNAME) to perform data API operations on OSS buckets located in Chinese mainland regions. Default public endpoints are restricted for these operations. Refer to the official announcement for a complete list of the affected operations. If you access your data via HTTPS, you must bind a valid SSL Certificate to your custom domain. This is mandatory for OSS Console access, as the console enforces HTTPS.

FAQ
How to choose a region?
Consider the following factors when you select a region:
Geographic proximity: Choose the region closest to your primary users or applications to reduce network latency and improve access performance.
Connectivity with other cloud products: When OSS and other cloud products reside in the same region, they can communicate over the internal network, eliminating public network traffic charges.
Cost considerations: Product pricing and discount policies vary by region. For details, see OSS Pricing.
Compliance requirements: Different regions and industries have different data compliance requirements. Select a region that meets your business compliance needs.
Product features: New features are often released for public preview in specific regions. To use the latest features, create a bucket in the designated region. For details, see Release notes.
Use the curl command to test network latency between your local network and different OSS endpoints. This helps inform your region selection. Lower time_connect and time_starttransfer values typically indicate better network quality.
curl -o /dev/null -s -w "Connect: %{time_connect}s\nStart Transfer: %{time_starttransfer}s\nTotal: %{time_total}s\n" "https://oss-<region-id>.aliyuncs.com"Why do region names outside the Chinese mainland differ across pages?
Region names outside the Chinese mainland may vary between the OSS Pricing page and the resource plan purchase page. However, these names refer to the same physical location. For example, the US (Silicon Valley) region may appear as US West 1 or US West. For more information, see Object Storage Service pricing or Purchase a resource plan.
