Microservices Engine:Manage instances

Last Updated:Nov 14, 2023

After you create a Microservices Engine (MSE) instance, you can view the status and other information of the instance, change the name of the instance, and release the instance if you no longer require the instance. This topic describes how to view, modify, and restart a Nacos instance.

Prerequisites

View an instance

  1. Log on to the MSE console and select a region in the top navigation bar.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Microservices Registry > Instances.

  3. On the Instances page, click the name of the instance.

  4. On the Basic Information page, view the instance information, including the basic information and node status of the instance.

Change the name of an instance

After you create an instance, a name is automatically generated for the instance. To easily identify the instance, we recommend that you change the name of the instance.

  1. Log on to the MSE console and select a region in the top navigation bar.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Microservices Registry > Instances.

  3. On the Instances page, click the name of the instance.

  4. On the Basic Information page, click the Edit icon icon next to Instance Name to edit the instance name. In the message that appears, click OK.

Restart an instance

If an issue occurs on an instance or after you modify the parameters of an instance, you must restart the instance. You can restart one or all nodes of an instance based on your business requirements.

Restart all nodes

  1. Log on to the MSE console and select a region in the top navigation bar.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Microservices Registry > Instances.

  3. On the Instances page, click the name of the instance.

  4. In the upper part of the Basic Information page, click Restart Instance. In the Restart Instance message, click OK.

    Note
    • During the restart process, a rolling upgrade is performed on all nodes. The upgrade of each node takes about 1 to 2 minutes. We recommend that you perform this operation during off-peak hours to reduce business risks.

    • If the nodes of your instance are deployed in the same zone, MSE automatically redeploys the nodes across zones after the instance is restarted. This ensures the high availability of your instance. For more information, see Redeploy nodes across zones.

Restart a single node

  1. Log on to the MSE console and select a region in the top navigation bar.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Microservices Registry > Instances.

  3. On the Instances page, click the name of the instance.

  4. In the Instance node section of the Basic Information page, find the node that you want to restart and click Restart in the Actions column. In the message that appears, click OK.

Redeploy nodes across zones

If the nodes of your instance are deployed in the same zone, MSE allows you to migrate instance nodes from the same zone to different zones to ensure the high availability of your instance. If high-availability deployment is used for the nodes of your instance, you do not need to redeploy the nodes across zones.

Note
  • A rolling upgrade is performed on nodes during the redeployment. The upgrade of each node takes about 1 to 2 minutes. We recommend that you perform this operation during off-peak hours to reduce business risks.

  • If your instance version is not the latest, we recommend that you upgrade the instance to the latest version before the redeployment.

  1. Log on to the MSE console and select a region in the top navigation bar.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Microservices Registry > Instances.

  3. On the Instances page, click the name of the instance.

  4. On the Basic Information page, click Redeploy Across Zones. In the dialog box that appears, view the node distribution in zones.

    Note

If your instance version is not the latest, we recommend that you select I want to change the engine version at the same time and click OK.

  5. In the Instance node section of the Basic information page, view the node distribution result in the Zone column of each node.

Release an instance

If an instance is released, all nodes of the instance are released.

Important
  • You can manually release pay-as-you-go instances.

  • After an instance is released, the instance and its data are deleted. Proceed with caution.

  1. Log on to the MSE console and select a region in the top navigation bar.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Microservices Registry > Instances.

  3. On the Instances page, find the MSE instance that you want to release and choose More > Release Instance in the Actions column. In the Release Instance message, click OK.
