Microservices Engine:Upgrade or downgrade an MSE instance

Last Updated:Jan 26, 2024

When more computing resources are required to support business growth, you can upgrade instances to improve performance and stability. To reduce costs or optimize resource utilization, you can downgrade instances to reduce resource consumption. You can change instance specifications to meet your business requirements and optimize resource utilization. This topic describes how to upgrade or downgrade a Microservices Engine (MSE) instance.

Usage notes

  • The time required to upgrade or downgrade an MSE instance is about 10 minutes. During this period, you cannot perform operations on the instance in the MSE console.

  • For an instance that contains three or more nodes, a rolling deployment is performed for each node, and data is automatically synchronized to these nodes during the upgrade or downgrade. Your business is not interrupted during the process. For an instance that contains one or two nodes, the instance cannot provide high availability, and your business may be interrupted during the upgrade or downgrade.

  • To ensure the continuity of your business, we recommend that you upgrade or downgrade your instance during off-peak hours.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the MSE console and select a region in the top navigation bar.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Microservices Registry > Instances.

  3. On the Instances page, find the MSE instance whose specifications you want to change.

    • If your instance is a subscription instance, click More in the Actions column. In the list that appears, select Upgrade or Downgrade based on your requirements.

    • If your instance is a pay-as-you-go instance, click More in the Actions column. In the list that appears, select Upgrade/Downgrade.

  4. On the page that appears, change the settings of the parameters such as Public Bandwidth and Engine Specifications.

  5. Click Buy Now. In the message that appears, click Sign and Purchase.
