Mobile Platform as a Service:Retention analysis

Last Updated:Feb 04, 2026

Retention analysis provides data about user engagement. It analyzes the number and percentage of users in an audience group, such as new users, who return to your application. You can use this data to adjust your operational strategies for users who have churned and to drive continuous traffic growth.

To view retention analysis data, follow these steps:

  1. Log on to the console, click Products and Services > Mobile PaaS, and select an application.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Mobile Analysis Service > Basic analysis > Retention analysis.

  3. Filter the analytical data.

    • At the top of the page, select the platform, version, and channel.

    • Select a time range for the data analytics.

    • Select the dimension for displaying the analytical data: by device or account.

    • Select the time granularity for the analytical data. Options are day, week, or month. The default time granularity is day, and the default time range is the seven days before yesterday.

The retention analysis page contains two sections: Retention overview and Retention details.

Note
  • Hover your mouse cursor on the question mark of an indicator (tooltip), and you can see the description and calculation rule of the indicator.

  • The statistical data is based on the historical daily aggregation. The daily aggregate result of all statistical items is stored in the database, and the data of the current day is not taken into aggregation. For more information about the indicator calculation rule, see Basic indicator calculation rule.

Retention overview

This section displays a line chart showing the percentage of new users from a specific day who return to the application on each of the following seven days.

If you view data by day, the retention rate for Day N (such as Day 7) on the horizontal axis represents the average N-day retention rate for the selected date range. Similarly, if you view data by week or month, the retention rate for Week N or Month N is the average N-week or N-month retention rate for the date range. Retention can be tracked for up to 30 days for daily data, 6 weeks for weekly data, and 3 months for monthly data. The same limits apply to the retention details.

Retention details

This section displays a table that shows the percentage of new users from a specific day who return to the application on each of the following days.

For example, if the total number of new users on Day T is N, M1 of those users return to the application on Day T+1, and M7 of those users return on Day T+7, then the retention rate for Day T+1 is M1/N, and the retention rate for Day T+7 is M7/N.
