Vector Retrieval Service for Milvus versions are categorized as major versions (or kernel versions) and minor versions. A kernel version upgrade, such as from 2.4 to 2.5, typically includes significant feature enhancements or new capabilities. A minor version upgrade, such as from 2.4.0 to 2.4.1, primarily focuses on optimizations and bug fixes for existing features. When a new version is released, you can upgrade your instance in the console to benefit from these improvements.
Prerequisites
You have created a Milvus instance.
The instance you want to upgrade is in the Running status.
Usage notes
Upgrades are irreversible. You cannot roll back to a previous version after an upgrade is complete.
Back up your data. To prevent potential data loss from compatibility issues or other risks, we recommend you back up your data before starting an upgrade.
Plan for downtime. During the upgrade process, some queries may time out or fail. Perform upgrade during off-peak hours to minimize impact on your production environment.
