This topic describes how your MaxCompute service and resource statuses change when a payment is overdue.
If you encounter the following error message when running a computing job, your MaxCompute service is suspended or has an overdue payment. Go to the Account Balance page in the Expenses and Costs console to top up your account.
ODPS-0420095: Access Denied - Authorization Failed [4093], You have NO privilege to do the restricted operation on {acs:odps:*:projects or project_name}. Access Mode is AllDenied.
The following table describes the resource status and measures you can take after your subscription or pay-as-you-go MaxCompute services are suspended or have overdue payments.
Billing method | Overdue payment or service suspension | Resource status and measure |
Subscription | The service is immediately suspended after the purchased resources expire. | Take note of the following items if your MaxCompute services are suspended upon expiration: Scenario 1: If the pay-as-you-go Standard Edition service is also active in the region of your subscription computing resources, the subscription quota is frozen and disabled. Jobs submitted to the frozen quota will fail to run. Projects in this region are not affected, and you can still request project data by other means. If you settle the overdue payment within 15 days, the quota is automatically restored to a normal state. If a payment is overdue for more than 15 days, the quota is considered voluntarily abandoned and will be deleted and released. At this time, if the pay-as-you-go Standard Edition service is canceled and released, all projects in the corresponding region will also be deleted and cannot be recovered. When a project is released, its data is immediately and permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Scenario 2: If the pay-as-you-go Standard Edition service is not activated in the region of your subscription computing resources, all MaxCompute projects in that region are retained for 15 days and then released. The projects cannot be recovered after they are released. Data in objects such as tables, resources, functions, and instances will be lost and cannot be restored. For more information, see Project. If you settle the overdue payment within 15 days, the service is automatically reactivated. You are still charged storage fees for the data retained during this 15-day period. If the payment is overdue for more than 15 days, you forfeit all MaxCompute projects. You will receive an SMS or email notification one day before the release. After a project is released, its data will be permanently deleted within 30 days and cannot be recovered.
Important Take note of the following items for projects in the China (Hong Kong), Japan (Tokyo), Singapore, Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Indonesia (Jakarta), Germany (Frankfurt), UK (London), US (Silicon Valley), US (Virginia), UAE (Dubai), and SAU (Riyadh - Partner Region) regions: If the pay-as-you-go service was activated before April 25, 2024, the resource status and measures you can take follow those described in Scenario 2. If the pay-as-you-go service is activated on or after April 25, 2024, the resource status and measures you can take follow those described in Scenario 1.

Pay-as-you-go | If your account balance is insufficient to pay for the fees generated in the previous billing cycle, the payment of MaxCompute is overdue. When you activate the MaxCompute free trial, the free trial quota covers only computing fees for the Standard and Idle editions, and single-AZ standard storage fees. Multi-AZ standard storage fees are automatically incurred on a pay-as-you-go basis and are not covered by the free trial quota, which may result in an overdue payment on your account. For more information about storage billing rules, see Storage fees. | Take note of the following items if the payment of the MaxCompute service is overdue: Your service is not suspended if your account is within the service suspension grace period. If you exceed the grace period limits, Alibaba Cloud will suspend your MaxCompute service. You must settle all overdue bills within 15 days to resume service. You will be charged storage fees for the data retained during this 15-day period. If the payment is overdue for more than 15 days, you forfeit all MaxCompute projects. The projects are then released and cannot be recovered. You will receive an SMS or email notification one day before the release.
Note If the payment of your MaxCompute project is overdue, the system sends an alert notification to you by using a text message or an email. By default, the alert notification is sent to the mobile number or email address that is bound to your Alibaba Cloud account. When a project is released, its data is immediately and permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

To prevent business disruptions from overdue payments or service suspension, you can set up high-spending alerts or real-time consumption monitoring. When your account balance falls below the specified threshold, the system sends an alert via SMS or email. For more information, see Consumption monitoring and alerts.
