Before you start using MaxCompute, set up accounts, create a project, configure access permissions, and select a connection tool.

Assign roles and permissions to project members based on the principle of least privilege. For details, see Permissions. |
| Environment and tools |
Select a tool that fits your workflow. Each tool connects to MaxCompute through an endpoint — choose the endpoint based on the region and network type you select when you activate MaxCompute. For available tools, see Tools. For endpoint details, see Endpoints. |
