Platform For AI:Create a pipeline from a custom template

Last Updated:Feb 05, 2024

This topic describes how to save a pipeline as a custom template for other members of the current workspace to use.

Background information

The Visualized Modeling (Designer) page provides dozens of preset templates to help users from different sectors get started. In enterprises, algorithm developers may need to develop pipelines and save the pipelines as templates for business experts to create pipelines in order to build, deploy, and test models. As such, Machine Learning Designer provides the custom template feature. The following list describes the features:

  • Successfully-run pipelines can be saved as custom templates.

  • Custom templates can be viewed and replicated by other algorithm developers who are members of the current workspace.

  • Custom templates can be edited and deleted by the workspace administrators and the template creators who are members of the current workspace.

  • Custom templates can be used only within the current workspace.

Prerequisites

A pipeline is created and successfully run. For more information, see Prepare and preprocess data.

Create a custom template

  1. Go to the Visualized Modeling (Designer) page.

    1. Log on to the Machine Learning Platform for AI (PAI) console.

    2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Workspaces. On the Workspaces page, click the name of the workspace that you want to manage.

    3. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Model Training > Visualized Modeling (Designer). The Visualized Modeling (Designer) page appears.

  2. Double-click the name of a successfully-run pipeline. The configuration tab of the pipeline appears.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the canvas, click Publish as Template.

  4. In the Publish as Template dialog box, set the Template Name, Description, and Documentation Link parameters, and click Publish. The Documentation Link parameter is optional.

You can enter an HTTP URL in the Documentation Link field. The URL directs you to the custom template feature information page.

  5. After the template is published, click OK. You are redirected to the Custom Templates tab. On this tab, you can view created templates.lQLPJxbnDfsW_MXNAZrNA-CwuikV2FIeVogDe6BN3gBAAA_992_410

Then, you can create pipelines from the new custom template. For more information, see the "Use a custom template" section of this topic.

Use a custom template

  • Members of the current workspace who have the Algorithm Developer role attached can clone a pipeline from a custom template by following the instructions provided in the figure.lQLPJxbnDq3nUDfNAUjNAxywQDx0te6PSuUDe6Fx70BhAA_796_328

  • Administrators of the workspace and the creator of this custom template have permissions to delete the template.
