Lindorm:Activate the service

Last Updated:Mar 28, 2026

The compute engine is an elastic SQL analytics layer you can add to an existing Lindorm instance. This page shows how to activate it and configure the required vSwitch settings.

In this page:

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

Billing

The compute engine charges consist of two parts:

  • Elastic resource fees — billed per actual resource usage. The billing unit is the compute unit (CU). 1 CU equals 1 vCPU and 4 GB of memory, priced at USD 0.031 per hour.

  • Base usage fees — charged for 15 CUs.

Important

In the SAU (Riyadh - Partner Region) region, the CU price is USD 0.0378 per hour.

Activate the compute engine

Activation takes 5 to 10 minutes. The instance enters RESIZING status during this time and returns to Running when done.

  1. Log on to the Lindorm console.

  2. In the upper-left corner, select the region where the instance is deployed.

  3. On the Instances page, click the instance ID or click View Instance Details in the Actions column.

  4. In the navigation pane on the left, click Database Connections.

  5. Click the Compute Engine tab and then click Activate Now.

    Activate the compute engine

  6. In the Activate Compute Engine? dialog box, click OK.

  7. Wait for the instance status to change from RESIZING to Running. This indicates the compute engine is active.

  8. Optional: On the Compute Engine tab, click Enable Public Endpoint to expose the compute engine over the public internet.

Configure vSwitch settings

The compute engine resource group allocates IP addresses from a vSwitch in the same zone as the Lindorm instance. Make sure the vSwitch has enough available IP addresses before running workloads.

The Configure Network vSwitch dialog box lists only vSwitches in the same zone as the Lindorm instance. If you need a new vSwitch, create it in that zone first. For details, see Create and manage vSwitches. You can select up to five vSwitches.

To add a vSwitch after activation:

  1. Log on to the Lindorm console.

  2. In the upper-left corner, select the region where the instance is deployed.

  3. On the Instances page, click the instance ID or click View Instance Details in the Actions column.

  4. In the navigation pane on the left, click Compute Engine.

  5. Click the O&M Management tab.

  6. Click Modify. In the Configure vSwitch dialog box, select a vSwitch with enough available IP addresses.

  7. Click OK.
