Internet Shared Bandwidth:Internet Shared Bandwidth FAQ

Last Updated:Jun 04, 2026

Answers to common questions about Internet Shared Bandwidth, including EIP quota management, bandwidth limits, data transfer plans, and alert rules.

How do I increase the number of EIPs associated with an Internet Shared Bandwidth instance?

Each Internet Shared Bandwidth instance supports up to 100 EIPs by default. To increase this quota, use either of the following methods:

For more information, see Manage Internet Shared Bandwidth quotas.

How do I set the maximum bandwidth for EIPs in an Internet Shared Bandwidth instance?

You can cap the bandwidth of each EIP to prevent a single EIP from consuming all bandwidth in the instance.

Call the ModifyCommonBandwidthPackageIpBandwidth operation to set per-EIP bandwidth limits. Note the following:

  • This operation applies only to EIPs associated with ECS instances. EIPs associated with SLB instances, NAT gateways, secondary ENIs, or HAVIPs are not supported.

  • This operation is in public preview. It applies only to EIPs that are already associated with an Internet Shared Bandwidth instance. The feature is available only through the API, not the console.

For more information, see ModifyCommonBandwidthPackageIpBandwidth.

How do I move an EIP from one Internet Shared Bandwidth instance to another?

Disassociate the EIP from its current Internet Shared Bandwidth instance, then associate it with the target instance. For more information, see the following topics:

  1. Disassociate an EIP from an Internet Shared Bandwidth instance

  2. Associate EIPs with an Internet Shared Bandwidth instance

Important
  • After the EIP is disassociated, its maximum bandwidth and billing method revert to the original settings.

  • After you associate the EIP with another Internet Shared Bandwidth instance, data transfer fees may change based on the new bandwidth and billing settings.

What is the difference between data transfer plans and Internet Shared Bandwidth instances?

Data transfer plans and Internet Shared Bandwidth instances differ in the following ways:

  • Intended users

    • Data transfer plans are available to all users.

    • Internet Shared Bandwidth instances target medium and large enterprises.

  • Features

    • Data transfer plans are subscription services that offer a lower unit price for data transfer.

    • Internet Shared Bandwidth instances provide a shared pool of public bandwidth for associated EIPs.

  • How to use

    • Data transfer plans require no configuration. After purchase, the plan automatically offsets data transfer costs.

    • Internet Shared Bandwidth instances require setup. After purchase, associate EIPs with the instance so they can share the bandwidth.

How do I set up alerts for Internet Shared Bandwidth instances?

Configure threshold-triggered alert rules in the CloudMonitor console to monitor Internet Shared Bandwidth instance status. For more information, seeCreate a threshold-triggered alert rule.
