Last Updated:Aug 20, 2024

Valued Alibaba Cloud user, you must complete real-name registration if your Global Accelerator (GA) configuration, such as acceleration areas and endpoint groups, involves regions in the Chinese mainland in order to comply with the laws and regulations in the Chinese mainland. You must complete real-name registration on the Alibaba Cloud International site before 24:00 (UTC+8) on August 31, 2024. Otherwise, you cannot complete configuration related to the Chinese mainland for newly created GA instances.

Release date

September 1, 2024

Involved instance types

  • Standard GA instance

  • Basic GA instance

Background information

After you enable acceleration areas or endpoint groups in the Chinese mainland for GA, GA will use cloud resources deployed in data centers residing in the Chinese mainland. To comply with the laws and regulations in the Chinese mainland, you must complete real-name registration before you can use cloud resources deployed in data centers residing in the Chinese mainland.

Update content

Starting from September 1, 2024, if the configuration of any GA instance within your account involves regions in the Chinese mainland, such as acceleration areas or endpoint groups, the system automatically checks the real-name registration information of your account. If you have not completed real-name verification, you cannot complete the relevant configuration.

You can go to the Account Verification page on the Alibaba Cloud International site to complete real-name registration. For more information, see FAQ about real-name registration on the Alibaba Cloud international site (alibabacloud.com)

Impact

For accounts that have not completed real-name registration:

  • GA instances created before 24:00 (UTC+8) on August 31, 2024 are not affected.

  • You cannot configure acceleration areas or endpoint groups in the Chinese mainland for GA instances created after 24:00 (UTC+8) on August 31, 2024.
