Starting from 00:00:00 on January 5, 2024, Function Compute uses Cloud Data Transfer (CDT) to bill outbound Internet data transfers. You are charged for Internet data transfers based on the billing methods of CDT. At the same time, outbound Internet data plans of Function Compute are no longer available. This adjustment does not affect your business. You can continue to buy outbound Internet data plans of Function Compute before 00:00:00 on January 5, 2024. All outbound Internet data plans that you have purchased can still be used within their validity periods.
Billing methods of CDT
Cloud Data Transfer (CDT) is an Alibaba Cloud service that bills data transfers for different Alibaba Cloud services in a centralized manner. CDT allows you to flexibly use and manage data transfers with ease, which reduces IT costs. For more information, see What is CDT?
After the billing method is adjusted, you are charged for outbound Internet data transfers incurred by Function Compute based on the billing methods of CDT. CDT generates bills for the outbound Internet data transfers of Function Compute. CDT supports tiered pricing. The total amount of Internet data transfers of Function Compute and other Alibaba Cloud services can be accumulated to generate bills. The larger the amount of Internet data transfers, the lower the price. This helps reduce costs. For more information about the billing on Internet data transfers in CDT, see Internet data transfers.
After the billing method is changed, you are provided with a free quota of 10 GB of Internet data transfers over Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) lines each month. The free quota is increased to 20 GB per month starting from March 1, 2024 and can be used to offset outbound Internet data transfers of all Alibaba Cloud services that are supported by CDT in all regions. The free quota can be used together with other discounts. By default, the free quota is preferentially used.
The billing rules of data transfers in CDT are consistent with those of its supported Alibaba Cloud services. In terms of Internet traffic, Function Compute charges you only for outbound Internet traffic. This rule continues to apply after CDT is used. For more information, see Supported services.

After the trial quota of Internet data transfers is used up or expires, you are charged for the excess Internet data transfers in CDT on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Free quota for existing users
In order to compensate for the inconvenience that this adjustment may bring to existing users, a free CDT Internet data plan is automatically given to existing users for 12 months starting from 00:00:00 on January 5, 2024. The plan contains 100 GB of outbound Internet data each month. The free quota can only be used to offset the outbound Internet data transfers that are incurred by Function Compute.
