Express Connect:EnablePhysicalConnection

Last Updated:Aug 25, 2026

Enables an Express Connect circuit that is in the Confirmed state. After the circuit is enabled, it enters the Enabled state.

Operation description

When you invoke this operation, note the following items:

  • You can enable only an Express Connect circuit that is in the Confirmed state. After the circuit is enabled, it enters the Enabled state. To reach the Confirmed state, complete the following steps in sequence: call CreatePhysicalConnection to create a circuit (Initial → Allocating), wait for resource allocation to complete (Allocating → Allocated), and then call ConfirmPhysicalConnection after construction is complete (Allocated → Confirmed).

  • A billing activation step occurs between the Confirmed and Enabled states. By default (if ByPassSp is not specified or ByPassSp is set to false), the system automatically creates a billing order in the sales and billing system when you invoke this operation. The circuit is enabled only after the order is created. To skip the billing order flow and directly enable the circuit, set ByPassSp to true. This capability is available only to whitelist accounts. For more information, see the ByPassSp parameter description.

  • The EnablePhysicalConnection operation is asynchronous. The system returns a success response, but the Express Connect circuit is not yet fully enabled because the backend enablement task is still in progress. You can invoke DescribePhysicalConnections to query the enablement status of the Express Connect circuit.

  • The EnablePhysicalConnection operation does not support concurrent enablement of the same Express Connect circuit that is in the Confirmed state. Concurrent invocations return an error. If the Express Connect circuit is already in the Enabled state, invoking this operation again returns a success response (idempotent).

RAM authorization

The table below describes the authorization required to call this API. You can define it in a Resource Access Management (RAM) policy. The table's columns are detailed below:

  • Action: The actions can be used in the Action element of RAM permission policy statements to grant permissions to perform the operation.

  • API: The API that you can call to perform the action.

  • Access level: The predefined level of access granted for each API. Valid values: create, list, get, update, and delete.

  • Resource type: The type of the resource that supports authorization to perform the action. It indicates if the action supports resource-level permission. The specified resource must be compatible with the action. Otherwise, the policy will be ineffective.

    • For APIs with resource-level permissions, required resource types are marked with an asterisk (*). Specify the corresponding Alibaba Cloud Resource Name (ARN) in the Resource element of the policy.

    • For APIs without resource-level permissions, it is shown as All Resources. Use an asterisk (*) in the Resource element of the policy.

  • Condition key: The condition keys defined by the service. The key allows for granular control, applying to either actions alone or actions associated with specific resources. In addition to service-specific condition keys, Alibaba Cloud provides a set of common condition keys applicable across all RAM-supported services.

  • Dependent action: The dependent actions required to run the action. To complete the action, the RAM user or the RAM role must have the permissions to perform all dependent actions.

ByPassSp

boolean

No

Specifies whether to skip the SP (sales and billing system) billing order flow and directly enable the Express Connect circuit. Valid values:

  • false (default): Standard flow. A billing order is automatically created when the circuit is enabled. The circuit enters the Enabled state after the order is created.

  • true: Skips the billing order and directly enables the circuit. This capability is available only to whitelist accounts.
