Alibaba Cloud performs regular backend maintenance, such as version upgrades and patch fixes, to ensure the stability and security of your Alibaba Cloud Elasticsearch (ES) instances. You can configure a maintenance window to schedule these operations during off-peak hours. This reduces the potential impact on your business.
Maintenance impact and risks
The triggers, notification periods, and cluster impacts vary by maintenance type. Understanding these differences helps you better assess risks and plan your business operations. Before maintenance starts, Alibaba Cloud sends notifications to your account contacts through text messages, emails, and internal messages.
During the maintenance window, maintenance operations may trigger node restarts. This can cause transient client disconnections. Ensure your application has a reconnection mechanism.
Before the maintenance window begins, the cluster enters a locked state. The status is displayed as
Applying. While the cluster is locked, you cannot perform change operations, such as upgrades, downgrades, or restarts. Data reads, writes, and queries are not affected.
Procedure
