After creating a subscription Alibaba Cloud Elasticsearch or Logstash cluster, you can switch to a pay-as-you-go billing method. This allows for partial recovery of subscription costs and offers more flexibility in using the cluster. Ensure your account has enough balance after the switch to avoid service interruptions due to overdue payments.
Prerequisites
The cluster you want to switch must meet the following criteria:
The cluster belongs to your Alibaba Cloud account.
The cluster does not have an unpaid order for a billing method change.
If the cluster has such an unpaid order, you must cancel the unpaid order and place another order to switch the billing method.
The cluster is in a normal state.
The cluster does not contain data nodes with one or two vCPUs and 2 GiB of memory.
ImportantData nodes with one or two vCPUs and 2 GiB of memory may affect the performance stability of clusters. Therefore, Alibaba Cloud Elasticsearch no longer provides data nodes with these specifications since May 2021. Existing data nodes with these specifications can still be used. If your cluster contains data nodes with these specifications, we recommend that you upgrade the data nodes at the earliest opportunity. For more information, see Upgrade the configuration of a cluster.
The version of the Elasticsearch cluster is not V7.4.
ImportantAfter May 2021, V7.4 is no longer provided. Existing V7.4 clusters are not affected. We recommend that you purchase V7.10 clusters.
Limits
Clusters on Alibaba Gov Cloud and Alibaba Finance Cloud cannot switch from subscription to pay-as-you-go billing methods.
Notes
Consider the following before switching the billing method of a cluster:
The cluster will not be released after switching to pay-as-you-go. Ensure your account has enough balance to prevent suspension due to overdue payments. If you decide not to use the cluster, back up the data and release it through the console.
An 85% refund of the remaining subscription fee is provided after the switch, with the remaining 15% deducted as a service fee.
NoteThe remaining subscription fee is calculated as the amount paid for the order minus the amount already consumed.
Refunds for the remaining subscription and stored-value cards are issued to the original payment account. Coupons and vouchers are non-refundable.
Full refunds for pending renewal or upgrade orders are returned to the original payment account.
Renewals due to ICP filings, errors, or server room migration provided by Alibaba Cloud are non-refundable.
Switch the billing method of an Elasticsearch cluster from subscription to pay-as-you-go
Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Elasticsearch console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Elasticsearch Clusters.

Select a resource group and region from the top menu bar. Then, in the left-side navigation pane, click Elasticsearch Instances.

In the instance list, locate the destination instance and click Operations in the corresponding right-side column. Then, click
> Switch To Pay-as-you-go. -
On the order confirmation page, review the instructions and fee details. Confirm the information is correct, agree to the service agreement, and click Purchase Now.
The billing method of the instance will be switched to pay-as-you-go after payment is completed.
Switch the billing method of a Logstash cluster from subscription to pay-as-you-go
Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Elasticsearch console.
In the top navigation bar, select the region where the desired cluster resides.

In the left-side navigation pane, click Logstash Instances.

In the instance list, locate the destination instance and click Operations in the corresponding right-side column. Then, click
> Switch To Pay-as-you-go. -
On the order confirmation page, review the instructions and fee details. Once you have verified that the information is accurate, agree to the service agreement and click Purchase Now.
The billing method of the instance will be switched to pay-as-you-go after payment is completed.
