Images provide operating systems, initial application data, and pre-installed software for cloud computers in WUYING Workspace. You can use images to create and deploy cloud computers in WUYING Workspace. This topic describes the scenarios, types, and other related information about images that are provided by WUYING Workspace.
Billing
You are not charged for using images that are provided by WUYING Workspace.
Scenarios
Create cloud computers
An image contains the operating system, initial application data, and other data that are required to create a cloud computer. You can use an image to quickly create a cloud computer.
You can create a custom image based on a configured cloud computer or a snapshot. The custom image can be used to create multiple cloud computers at a time.
Replace an operating system
If the operating system of your cloud computer cannot meet your business requirements, you can change the image to replace the operating system or initialize the data of the existing operating system.
Image types
Images of WUYING Workspace are classified into the following types based on the sources of images:
System images: images that are provided by WUYING Workspace and have passed the security and stability tests of Alibaba Cloud. Operating systems contained in system images include Windows Server and Linux.
Custom images: images that you create based on existing cloud computers or snapshots, and private images that are imported by using Server Migration Center (SMC) and the WUYING Workspace console.
Shared images: images that are shared by other Alibaba Cloud accounts.
System images
System images are the default images provided by Alibaba Cloud WUYING Workspace. System images contain the environments and data that are required to create cloud computers. The following table lists the system images that are provided by WUYING Workspace.

Custom images
A custom image contains the operating system, configuration information, and business or application data for custom deployment. You can use a custom image to create cloud computers that have the same configurations based on your business requirements. This eliminates the trouble of repeating the same configurations over and again. The following table describes how to create a custom image.
Method to create a custom image | Description | References |
Create a custom image based on a cloud computer or a snapshot. |
| |
Import an image in the WUYING Workspace console. | You can import Windows Server images from on-premises machines to WUYING Workspace. |
After you create a custom image, you can perform the following operations based on your business requirements:
Create a custom cloud computer template
You can use a custom image to create a cloud computer template. After that, you can use the cloud computer template to create multiple cloud computers with the same configurations at a time. For more information, see Create custom cloud computer templates.
Shared images
You can share a custom image with other Alibaba Cloud accounts. For more information, see Share or unshare a custom image.
Copy an image
You can copy a custom image to another region. For more information, see Copy an image.
Delete an image
You can delete an image if you no longer need the image. For more information, see Delete an image.
Share an image
After you create a custom image, you can share the image with other Alibaba Cloud accounts. In this case, the image is a shared image. Users that receive the shared image can use the image to create cloud computers with the same configurations in an efficient manner. If you no longer need to share an image with another account, you can unshare the image. For more information, see Share or unshare a custom image.
