Tags can be used to identify resources with the same characteristics for easy search and management, such as security groups that belong to the same organization or that serve the same purpose. This topic describes how to modify the tags of a security group.

Background information

For information about how to use tags, the resources that support tags, and the limits on tags, see Overview and the "Tag limits" section of the Limits topic.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the ECS console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Network & Security > Security Groups.
  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.
  4. Find the security group whose tags you want to modify and move the pointer over the edit-tag icon in the Tag column.
    • If no tag is added to the security group, click Edit Tags to add tags.
    • If tags are added to the security group, click Edit to edit the tags.
  5. In the Edit Tags dialog box, select existing tags or specify new tags. Then, click OK.

What to do next

After tags are added to your security groups, you can filter the security groups by tag to perform different operations. For example, you can add Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances to security groups that have a set of tags and add rules to security groups that have a different set of tags.
