If your site uses the NS setup and the Convert button is unavailable when you try to switch to the CNAME setup, use one of the methods in this topic to resolve the issue.
Cause
This issue occurs when the following two conditions are both true:
-
The service area for the site is set to Global or the Chinese mainland.
-
The Proxy Status of one or more DNS records is set to DNS only, which means traffic for those records bypasses the ESA edge network and resolves directly to the origin.
ESA does not support converting sites with this configuration to the CNAME setup.
Solutions
You can resolve this issue by using any one of the following three methods. After you apply a method, convert the NS setup to the CNAME setup.
Procedure
Method 1: Delete records with a Proxy Status of DNS only
Delete all DNS records that have a Proxy Status of DNS only, and then convert the NS setup to the CNAME setup. To make it easier to re-add these records at your new DNS service provider, back up the DNS only records before you delete them.
-
In the ESA console, choose Websites. In the Website column, click the target site.
-
In the left navigation pane, choose .
-
(Optional) Find the records that have a Proxy Status of DNS only and back up their information.
-
For each record that has a Proxy Status of DNS only, click Delete in the Actions column.
Method 2: Change the Proxy Status to Proxied
On the Records page, find the records that have a Proxy Status of DNS only and change their Proxy Status to Proxied. Then, convert the NS setup to the CNAME setup.
-
In the ESA console, choose Websites. In the Website column, click the target site.
-
In the left navigation pane, choose .
-
Find a record with a Proxy Status of DNS only, and click Edit in the Actions column.
-
Turn on the Proxy Status switch and click Next.
-
Select a website acceleration type and click Finish.
Method 3: Change the service area
Change the service area of the site to Global (Excluding the Chinese Mainland), and then convert the NS setup to the CNAME setup. After you convert to the CNAME setup, evaluate whether to switch the service area back to its original setting.
-
In the ESA console, choose Websites. Click the site name to go to the Overview page.
-
In the Basic Information section, click Change.
-
In the dialog box that appears, select Global (Excluding the Chinese Mainland) and click Change.
