Creating a dedicated block storage cluster grants you exclusive access to the storage resources within the cluster. This topic describes how to create a dedicated block storage cluster.
Prerequisites
Before you can use a dedicated block storage cluster for the first time, you must submit a ticket to request permission.
Background information
Dedicated Block Storage Cluster is currently available in the following regions: China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), China (Beijing), China (Zhangjiakou), China (Ulanqab), China (Shenzhen), China (Heyuan), Indonesia (Jakarta), Germany (Frankfurt), and China South 1 Finance.
When you create a dedicated block storage cluster, note the following:
When you log on to the Elastic Block Storage (EBS) console for the first time, you must create an EBS service-linked role as prompted. For more information, see EBS service-linked role.
Dedicated block storage clusters are available in Basic and Performance types. When you create a cluster, select a cluster type based on your requirements.
You are charged for creating a dedicated block storage cluster. For more information, see Billing.
Procedure
Go to the Dedicated Block Storage Cluster page.
Log on to the Elastic Block Storage console.
In the navigation pane on the left, choose .
In the top navigation bar, select the region and resource group of the resource that you want to manage.
Click Create Dedicated Block Storage Cluster.
In the panel that appears on the right, configure the following parameters.
The following table describes the parameters.
Parameter
Description
Billing Method
Dedicated block storage clusters support only the Subscription billing method.
Region and Zone
Set the region and zone for the dedicated block storage cluster.
NoteYou cannot change the region and zone of a cluster after it is created. Plan the region and zone for your cloud resources in advance. For example, when you create a dedicated block storage cluster, set its region and zone to be the same as those of your resources, such as ECS instances.
Cluster Capacity
Set the capacity of the cluster. The capacity range and adjustment limits are as follows:
Minimum capacity: 60 TiB (61,440 GiB)
Maximum capacity: 2,280 TiB (2,334,720 GiB)
Capacity adjustment increment: You can adjust the capacity only in increments of 12 TiB (12,288 GiB).
NoteIf the capacity of a dedicated block storage cluster is less than 576 TiB, the maximum throughput per TiB cannot exceed 52 MB/s. If the capacity of a dedicated block storage cluster is greater than 576 TiB, the maximum throughput per TiB cannot exceed 26 MB/s.
Dedicated Block Storage Cluster Name
Set a name for the cluster to make it easier to manage.
Cluster Performance Type
Set the performance type of the cluster. You can select Basic or Performance. The types are described as follows:
Basic dedicated block storage clusters can be used to create only PL0 ESSDs.
Performance dedicated block storage clusters can be used to create only PL1 ESSDs.
For more information about ESSDs, see ESSDs.
Duration
Set the subscription duration for the cluster.
Confirm the total configuration fee and click Buy Now.
The dedicated block storage cluster is delivered within 20 business days after you complete the payment.
Related operations
After a dedicated block storage cluster is created, you can view or modify its information.
View cluster information: After a dedicated block storage cluster is created, you can view its basic information, details about the disks in the cluster, and monitoring data.
In the dedicated block storage cluster list, you can view the status, zone, and capacity of your clusters. You can also click a cluster ID to open the cluster details page and view its basic information.
If disks are created in the cluster, their information is displayed on the Disk Management tab of the cluster details page.
On the Cluster Monitoring tab of the cluster details page, you can view the capacity usage of the cluster.
Modify cluster information: In the Actions column for the cluster, select .
