What is the renewal price of a domain name?
Renewal prices vary by TLD (such as .com or .cn) and are based on rates at the time of renewal. For current pricing, see the official Domain Name Pricing page.
Why does the renewal price of a domain name change?
Renewal prices may differ from the initial registration price because first-purchase promotions do not apply to renewals, or because the registry has adjusted its fees.
To check the current renewal price, log on to the Domain Names console and click Renew for your domain. For more information about the renewal process, see Domain name renewal.
Grace period
Can I renew an expired domain name?
Yes. Expired domain names enter a grace period during which you can renew at the standard price. This period is typically 30 days for most TLDs, or 28 days for .hk domain names. For more information about the renewal process, see Domain name renewal.
When a domain name expires, DNS resolution is suspended and the domain name is redirected to a renewal reminder page.
After renewal, DNS resolution is restored — typically within 24 hours for Alibaba Cloud DNS, or 24 to 48 hours for third-party DNS providers.
Why does my website still show an expiration page after the domain name is renewed?
After renewing, you may need to restore your DNS server settings. The registrar may have changed them to point to an expiration page when the domain name expired.
If the DNS settings are correct, try clearing your browser cache and accessing the website again.
Redemption period
What is the redemption price of a domain name?
The redemption price is typically much higher than the standard renewal fee and varies by TLD. For current pricing, see the official Domain Name Pricing page.
Does redeeming a domain name also renew it?
Yes. For most TLDs, redemption includes a one-year renewal. For certain TLDs, the redemption fee only restores the domain name and a separate renewal fee applies. After redeeming, verify the expiration date in the console.
Why does my website still show an expiration page after the domain name is redeemed?
This occurs for the same reasons as after a standard renewal. Verify that your DNS server settings point to your website.
If the DNS settings are correct, try clearing your browser cache and accessing the website again.
Pending deletion period
Why can't I find my domain name in my account after it expires?
The domain name has entered the pending deletion period. If not renewed during the grace period or redeemed during the redemption period, the domain name is removed from your account. It cannot be managed or restored during this stage. Once deleted by the registry, it becomes available for public registration.
