Data Transmission Service:Instance class upgrade trial

Prerequisites

• You have created a data synchronization or data migration instance for incremental tasks, and it is in the Running state. For more information, see the configuration topics in Data synchronization scenarios or Migration scenarios.

• The instance's current Instance Class is not the maximum. This means the Instance Class is not large for a data synchronization instance or 2xlarge for a data migration instance. For more information about instance classes, see Instance classes of data synchronization instances and Instance classes of data migration instances.

Usage notes

• Each Alibaba Cloud account is eligible for three free trial upgrades. After using the free trials, you can pay to upgrade the Instance Class.

• Each trial upgrade lasts for 24 hours. You cannot start a new trial while another is in progress.

• The instance automatically restarts at the beginning and end of the upgrade, which takes about one minute. If data in the source database changes during the restart, temporary data inconsistency may occur between the source and destination databases. The databases become consistent again after the instance restarts and replication latency returns to zero.

Procedure

The steps for the free trial upgrade are similar for data synchronization and data migration instances. This topic uses a data synchronization instance as an example.

1. Go to the Data Synchronization Tasks page.

   1. Log on to the Data Management (DMS) console.

   2. In the top navigation bar, click Data + AI.

   3. In the left-side navigation pane, choose DTS (DTS) > Data Synchronization.

   Note

   • Operations may vary based on the mode and layout of the DMS console. For more information, see Simple mode console and Customize DMS console layout and style.

   • You can also go to the Data Synchronization Tasks page of the new DTS console.

2. Click the ID of the target instance.

3. Optional: In the left-side navigation pane, click Task Management.

4. In the Progress section, click the Incremental Write module.

5. On the Basic Information tab, next to Rate, click Upgrade for Free.

6. In the dialog box that appears, click Trial. It explains that each Alibaba Cloud account gets 3 free 24-hour trial upgrades and that the instance automatically restarts when the trial starts and ends.

   The Upgrade for Free button changes to Running. On the Basic Information tab, the Rate row displays the Free upgrade experience link.

7. Optional: Hover your pointer over Running to view the expiration time in the tooltip.

   Note

   You can also click History to view all trial records for temporary Instance Class upgrades for the current Alibaba Cloud account, including the upgrade time, expiration time, and status.

8. After the instance restarts successfully, the Instance Class upgrade takes effect.
