    Data Management:[Notice] Outbound IP address change for DMS

    On April 26, 2023, the Data Management (DMS) network architecture was upgraded, which changed the outbound IP addresses in multiple regions. You must update your database IP address whitelists to ensure continued connectivity.

    Note

    This upgrade does not affect database instance operations. Only IP address whitelists need to be updated.

    Who is affected

    This change affects databases managed by DMS in the following categories:

    • Alibaba Cloud databases

    • Self-managed databases hosted on Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances

    • Self-managed databases connected over the Internet

    Affected regions: China (Hangzhou), China (Qingdao), China (Beijing), China (Zhangjiakou), China (Hohhot), China (Chengdu), China (Shenzhen), China (Guangzhou), China (Hong Kong), Singapore, Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Indonesia (Jakarta), Japan (Tokyo), US (Silicon Valley), US (Virginia), UK (London), Germany (Frankfurt), SAU (Riyadh), China North 2 Finance (Preview), China East 1 Finance, and China East 2 Finance.

    To check which instances are affected, log on to the DMS console V5.0 and choose Data Assets > Instances. Filter instances by instance source and region.

    Required action

    Add the new DMS outbound IP addresses to your database whitelists. The steps depend on your database type.

    Alibaba Cloud databases or self-managed databases on ECS instances

    Alibaba Cloud databases: Add the new outbound IP addresses to the IP address whitelist of the database instance in the corresponding console. For example, for ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL, see Configure an IP address whitelist.

    Self-managed databases on ECS instances: Modify the security group rules for the ECS instance to allow access from the new outbound IP addresses. For more information, see Add a security group rule.

    Databases connected over the Internet

    Modify the firewall rules or IP address whitelist for your instance or network to allow access from the new outbound IP addresses.

    Verify the update

    After updating the whitelist or security group rules, test the connection in DMS to verify the configuration.
