Database Backup (DBS) allows you to back up and restore ApsaraDB databases and self-managed databases that are hosted on Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances. You can also download backup sets from the cloud to your on-premises machine to enhance data protection. Backup sets can be manually or automatically downloaded. You can use downloaded backup sets to restore on-premises databases, analyze and audit Excel files, and back up data to on-premises storage.

How backup set download works

DBS packages, compresses, and converts backup files to downloadable CSV files. The whole process takes about 15 minutes. These files can be manually downloaded or can be automatically downloaded by using DBS backup gateways. For more information, see Manually download a backup set and Configure automatic download of backup sets.
