DataWorks:View bill details

Last Updated:Jun 20, 2026

This topic describes how to view detailed bills for each billable item in DataWorks.

Important

Read DataWorks billing overview first to understand the overall billing logic.

Usage notes

  • The Alibaba Cloud billing system aggregates bill data by region. You cannot view or analyze costs for a single DataWorks workspace or an individual user.

  • If you have not used a workspace for a long time, charges may still be incurred. For more information, see Appendix: Reasons why an inactive workspace may incur charges.

Purchased resources and services

Go to the Purchased Resources and Services page to view the DataWorks services that are activated in each region.

The Purchased Resources and Services page has pay-as-you-go and subscription sections at the top, where you can manage resources with buttons like New Purchase and Top-up. In the middle, you can switch between the Subscription - Features, Subscription - Resources, and pay-as-you-go tabs. You can also click Activate New Region to activate services in a new region. The table at the bottom displays order information such as commodity type, primary specifications, activation region, status, days until expiration, order time, and order instance ID. The Actions column provides options such as Renew, Upgrade, and Downgrade.

Bill details

DataWorks provides two billing methods: pay-as-you-go and subscription.

Category

Description

Pay-as-you-go (postpaid)

In each region, pay-as-you-go billable items, such as the number of data quality check instances, are billed collectively by category. Billing at the workspace level is not supported.

Subscription (prepaid)

In each region, subscription services are billed based on the number of purchased subscription instances. Each subscription instance is a separate billable item in the billing system.

  • General-purpose resource groups, exclusive resource groups for scheduling, exclusive resource groups for Data Integration, and exclusive resource groups for Data Service are billed by the number of resource groups. Each resource group is a separate billable item and is billed independently.

  • DataWorks Standard Edition, Professional Edition, and Enterprise Edition are billed on a per-region basis.

The following table describes the bill details.

Module

Description

Bill generation date

You can query bill details by specifying a By Month or By Day range. DataWorks aggregates statistics by billing instance.

Statistical entries

The number of statistical entries is determined by the relationship between billable items and billing instances.

  • pay-as-you-go services are billed by region, not at the workspace level. Therefore, each type of pay-as-you-go billable item generates a separate billing instance in the billing system for each region.

  • DataWorks value-added editions are activated on a per-region basis. Therefore, in each region, the subscription value-added edition billable item generates a separate billing instance in the billing system.

  • Subscription resource groups are billed by the number of resource groups purchased in each region. Each resource group is a separate billable item in the billing system. This means there is a one-to-many relationship between the subscription exclusive resource group billable item and billing instances.

Instance ID

Billing instances are aggregated by billable item and region.

  • Number of pay-as-you-go billing instances: In each region, each type of pay-as-you-go (postpaid) billable item generates a separate billing instance in the billing system. Each pay-as-you-go category becomes a separate entry.

For example, pay-as-you-go services such as the number of scheduled instances, the number of baseline instances, phone alert usage, and the number of data quality rule instances each become a separate billable item. DataWorks aggregates usage at the tenant level across all workspaces. Therefore, each type of pay-as-you-go billable item becomes a separate billing instance in the billing system.

  • Number of subscription billing instances:

    • DataWorks Standard Edition, Professional Edition, and Enterprise Edition are activated on a per-region basis. Therefore, in each region, the Standard Edition, Professional Edition, or Enterprise Edition billable item generates a separate billing instance.

    • Subscription services are billed by the number of resource groups purchased in each region. Each subscription purchase by a tenant (Alibaba Cloud account) generates a separate billing instance in the billing system.

Billable item name

For details about each billable item, see DataWorks billing overview.

Appendix: Charges for inactive workspaces

DataWorks provides pay-as-you-go and subscription billing methods. If you have not used a workspace for a long time, the following scenarios may incur charges:

  • pay-as-you-go: If you have not purchased a subscription service but scheduled tasks exist in the workspace, charges may be incurred. For example, task scheduling generates charges for scheduled instances in the public resource group, and using baselines generates baseline instance fees. If you do not plan to use the workspace for a period of time, you can disable it. On the Workspace List page, click the More icon in the Actions column for the target workspace, and select Disable Workspace.

    Note

After you disable a workspace, scheduled tasks no longer generate scheduled instances. However, the compute engine resources still exist and may incur engine storage-related charges. These charges are collected by the engine and are not reflected in DataWorks bills. For engine billing details, refer to the respective engine's documentation.

  • subscription: If you have purchased a subscription service and enabled auto-renewal, subscription fees are incurred. Verify that auto-renewal is disabled. For more information, see Billing deactivation instructions.
