    When you call an API, you must configure an IP whitelist for the data source to ensure that the resource group can access it. This topic describes how to obtain the IP whitelists for different types of resource groups and provides important information about configuring an IP whitelist for a data source.

    Obtain whitelist IP addresses: Public resource groups

    Before you create an API in DataService Studio, you must configure a data source. To ensure that DataService Studio can connect to the data source, add the IP addresses for the corresponding region from the table below to the database whitelist.

    Important

    The IP CIDR blocks in the whitelist may change because of underlying scale-outs of public resource groups. To improve resource isolation, network connectivity, disaster recovery, and high availability for your online services, we recommend that you use Serverless resource groups.

    Whitelist IP addresses

    The IP addresses of public resource groups for DataService Studio in the China (Beijing) region will be updated on December 7, 2025. The following table lists the whitelist IP addresses for all regions before December 7, 2025.

    Obtain whitelist IP addresses: Exclusive resource groups for DataService Studio

    Exclusive resource groups for DataService Studio can access data sources that are deployed on the Internet, in Alibaba Cloud Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), or in data centers. The following table describes how to configure network connectivity in different network environments to ensure that an exclusive resource group for DataService Studio can access a data source.

    Note

    For more information about how to use exclusive resource groups for DataService Studio, see Use an exclusive resource group for DataService Studio. Exclusive resource groups for DataService Studio are available only in the China (Shanghai) region.

    The data source has Internet access.

    The exclusive resource group for DataService Studio can connect to the data source.

    1. Log on to the VPC console. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Public Network Access > Elastic IP Address. In the target region, click Create Elastic IP Address.

      Note

      For more information about how to create an elastic IP address (EIP), see Apply for EIPs.

      The EIP must be in the same region as the exclusive resource group for DataService Studio.

    2. In the navigation pane on the left of the VPC console, choose NAT Gateway > Internet NAT Gateway. In the target region, click Create NAT Gateway.

      Note

      For more information about how to create a NAT Gateway, see Purchase an Internet NAT gateway.

      The NAT gateway must be in the same region as the exclusive resource group for DataService Studio.

    3. Click Manage in the Actions column of the NAT gateway that you created to go to the instance details page. On the Associate With EIP tab, click Associate With EIP. In the dialog box that appears, select an existing EIP and enter a name for it. Then, click OK.

    4. On the SNAT Management tab, click Create SNAT Entry. Set SNAT Entry Granularity to VSwitch. Select the vSwitch from the Select VSwitch drop-down list and select the IP address from the Elastic IP Address drop-down list. Enter a custom name in the Entry Name field and click OK.

      Note

      The vSwitch that you select for the SNAT entry must be the same as the vSwitch of the exclusive resource group for DataService Studio.

    5. Copy the public IP address of the SNAT entry that you created and add the IP address to the data source's IP address whitelist. For more information, see Add a data source.

    The data source is in a classic network.

    The exclusive resource group for DataService Studio cannot connect to the data source. To establish a connection, use a public resource group for DataService Studio.

    None.

    The data source is in a VPC. The data source and DataWorks are in the same region, VPC, and vSwitch.

    The exclusive resource group for DataService Studio can connect to the data source.

    1. Log on to the VPC console. In the navigation pane on the left, click VSwitch to go to the vSwitch list page. Find the vSwitch of the exclusive resource group for DataService Studio and copy its IPv4 CIDR block.

    2. Add the IPv4 CIDR block of the vSwitch to the IP whitelist of the data source.

    The data source is in a VPC. The data source and DataWorks are in the same region and VPC, but in different vSwitches.

    The exclusive resource group for DataService Studio can connect to the data source.

    The data source is in a VPC. The data source and DataWorks are in the same region but in different VPCs.

    The exclusive resource group for DataService Studio can connect to the data source.

    1. Log on to the VPC console.

    2. Create a VPN gateway, a customer gateway, and an IPsec-VPN connection. Configure routes for the VPN gateway. Test communications over a private network. For more information, see Enable communication between two VPCs using an IPsec-VPN connection in dual-tunnel mode.

    3. Add the vSwitch CIDR block of the exclusive resource group for DataService Studio to the IP whitelist of the data source.

      Note

      Create two sets of VPN gateways, customer gateways, and IPsec-VPN connections in the same region.

    The data source is in a VPC. The data source and DataWorks are in different regions.

    The exclusive resource group for DataService Studio can connect to the data source.

    1. Log on to the Cloud Enterprise Network console.

    2. Create a CEN instance, attach a network instance to the CEN instance, and purchase a bandwidth plan. Then, configure region connections and check network connectivity. For more information, see Use Basic Edition transit routers to connect VPCs in the same region or Connect network instances created by different accounts and in different regions.

    3. Add the vSwitch CIDR block of the exclusive resource group for DataService Studio to the IP whitelist of the data source.

    The data source is in a data center.

    The exclusive resource group for DataService Studio can connect to the data source.

    1. Use Express Connect and Cloud Enterprise Network to connect the VPC where the exclusive resource group for DataService Studio resides to the data center where the data source resides.

    2. Add the vSwitch CIDR block of the exclusive resource group for DataService Studio to the IP whitelist of the data source.

    Configure data source whitelists

    To prevent connectivity issues between DataWorks DataService Studio and your data source because of whitelist controls, add the IP addresses of the resource group that you are using to the data source's whitelist. The considerations for configuring whitelists vary for different data sources.

    Take an Alibaba Cloud ApsaraDB RDS instance as an example. The product supports standard and safe mode IP whitelists. The whitelist group that you configure may affect the network connectivity between DataService Studio and your database.

    • If the RDS instance uses a standard IP whitelist:

      • Standard IP whitelists do not distinguish between classic network and VPC whitelist groups.

      • Public and exclusive resource groups for DataService Studio can use the same whitelist group configuration.

        Note

        In standard whitelist mode, the configured IP addresses can be used to access the RDS instance from both the classic network and VPCs.

    • If the RDS instance uses a safe mode IP whitelist:

      • Safe mode distinguishes between classic network and VPC whitelist groups.

        Note

        In safe mode, you must specify a network isolation mode for the whitelist group. For example, IP addresses in a whitelist set for the classic network cannot be used to access the RDS instance from a VPC, and vice versa.

      • When an exclusive resource group for DataService Studio connects directly to the database using the VPC internal network, the whitelist group must be a VPC whitelist group.

      • When a public resource group for DataService Studio accesses a VPC data source (for example, a VPC ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance configured in instance mode), the whitelist group must be a VPC whitelist group.

      • When a resource group for DataService Studio accesses the database using a public endpoint or a classic network endpoint, the whitelist group must be a classic network whitelist group.

    • If you switch the whitelist mode of the database from standard to safe mode:

      RDS copies the standard IP whitelist into two separate whitelist groups: one for the classic network and one for the VPC.

    Other notes on whitelist configuration:

    • Setting a whitelist does not affect the normal operation of the RDS instance.

    • The default IP whitelist group (default) cannot be deleted, but it can be cleared.

    • Do not modify or delete system-generated groups to avoid affecting related products. Examples include the ali_dms_group whitelist for DMS and the hdm_security_ips whitelist for DAS.

      Note

      When you configure a whitelist in your database, we recommend that you create a new whitelist group specifically for DataWorks.

    • The default IP whitelist contains only 127.0.0.1. This means no IP address can access the RDS instance.

The process is similar for other types of data sources. Refer to the whitelist configuration steps for your specific data source to add the corresponding IP addresses.
