Dataphin:Create and manage entities

An entity is a distinguishable independent item, such as a person, place, company, or device. This guide provides instructions on creating an entity.

Entity management overview

The entity management page is divided into the feature area and the entity list, where you can manage your created entities.

  • Filter: Enables filtering by the entity owner within the current list.

  • Search: Allows searching for entities using keywords.

  • Add entity: To add a new entity, click Add Entity. For detailed steps, see Create an entity.

  • Refresh: To update the entity list, click the image refresh icon.

Entity list

The entity list displays created entities with details such as Entity Name/code, Associated ID, Owner, Created At, Entity Description, and available Actions. The entity list supports the following management operations:

  • Edit: To edit an entity's information, click the image edit icon. Note that the Entity Code cannot be modified.

  • Delete: To remove an entity, click the image..png delete icon. Entities cannot be deleted if they are associated with an ID.

Create an entity

  1. Navigate to the Dataphin home page, click Planning > Tag Architecture from the top menu bar.

  2. To access the New Entity dialog box, follow these steps:

    Click Entity Management > Add Entity in sequence.

  3. In the New Entity dialog box, fill in the required information for the entity.

    Description

    Entity Name

    Input the name of the entity. It can include Chinese and English characters, numbers, underscores (_), or hyphens (-), and must be within 64 characters.

    Entity Code

    Enter a unique identifier for the entity, starting with a letter and including lowercase English letters, numbers, and underscores, within 64 characters.

    Owner

    Select the entity's owner from the Dataphin member list, ensuring they are active users.

    Entity Description

    Provide a brief description of the entity, up to 1000 characters.

  4. To finalize the creation of the entity, click OK.

What to do next

Once the entity is created, you can associate it with the corresponding ID. For further details, see Create and manage ID.
