Last Updated:Jan 21, 2025

The asset catalog serves as a unified platform for displaying data assets from Dataphin and business systems, collected from various data sources. It provides a centralized search and browsing interface, complete with extensive metadata details, to facilitate a swift and comprehensive understanding of the data environment.

Overall overview

Leveraging data asset management standards and methodologies, Dataphin's data asset feature enables you to assess data assets effectively:

  • It automates the extraction and analysis of metadata, visualizes the construction of data asset graphs, and simplifies the process for managers to identify and comprehend the value of data assets.

  • It facilitates full-chain analysis of data production processes, including computation, storage, security, and application, pinpointing issues and offering governance and optimization strategies. This contributes to cost reduction and efficiency enhancement at the data plane level.

  • It allows for the inspection of visualized models and development data outcomes, as well as detailed data tables.

  • It provides table-level and field-level lineage visualization, enabling full-chain insights into data production and addressing the challenges of locating and understanding data through data lineage.

Glossary
