Subject areas, evolved from data domains, organize metrics with distinct meanings within the same data section, such as product, transaction, and member domains. Standardized modeling requires the prior establishment of subject areas. This topic outlines the process for creating subject areas.
Prerequisites
The intelligent R&D edition is required. To proceed, ensure the intelligent R&D module is enabled for the current tenant.
Ensure the data section has been created before commencing this operation. For more information, see the create data section document.
Permission description
Creation of subject areas is restricted to superusers, system administrators, and section architects.
Procedure
Navigate to the Dataphin home page, select Planning > Data Architecture from the top menu bar.
On the Business Unit page, click the Actions icon in the desired section's
column, and choose New Subject Area.
In the New Subject Area panel, enter the required parameters.

Subject Area Name
Follow these naming conventions:
Include only Chinese characters, English letters (uppercase and lowercase), numbers, underscores (_), and hyphens (-).
Do not exceed 64 characters in length.
Code

Include only English letters (uppercase and lowercase), numbers, and underscores (_).
Do not exceed 64 characters in length.
English Abbreviation (optional)
The English abbreviation, which may be included in the table name, should be concise to maintain readability. Follow these naming conventions:
Include only English letters (uppercase and lowercase), numbers, and underscores (_).
Do not exceed 15 characters in length.
Parent Subject Area (optional)
Specify the parent subject area to inherit from. If left blank, the subject area is considered a level 1 (top-level) subject area.
NoteA maximum of 5 levels of subject areas can be created.
Description (optional)
Provide a concise description of the subject area, not to exceed 1000 characters.
Click Confirm to finalize the creation of the subject area.
View subject areas in Kanban view
Dataphin supports viewing subject areas in List View and Kanban View. The default is List View. You can switch to Kanban View by clicking the Subject Area Management icon on the page.
In Kanban View, you can quickly access delete, edit, add subdomain, add entity options by single-clicking the icon on the subject area card.
