This topic describes how to select, configure, and change a virtual IP address.
Prerequisites
A cross-zone HA file gateway is created. For more information, see Manage a cross-zone HA file gateway in the CSG console.
Cross-zone HA file gateways are available only in the China (Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen,HongKong) regions.
Select a virtual IP address
You must select a virtual IP address that meets the following conditions:
It does not cause a conflict with entries in the routing table of the vSwitch for the virtual private cloud (VPC) that you selected when you created the gateway.
The virtual IP address must fall into the following RFC-defined private CIDR blocks: 192.168.0.0/16, 172.16.0.0/12, and 10.0.0.0/8.
A virtual IP address that conflicts with routing table entries may cause a configuration failure or unexpected network problems.
When you create or use a gateway, we recommend that you use a virtual IP address that does not fall within the CIDR block of the VPC of the gateway to avoid network conflicts. For example, if the VPC belongs to the 10.0.0.0/8 CIDR block, you can select an RFC IP address in the 172.16.0.0/12 or 192.168.0.0/16 CIDR block.
Change a virtual IP address
When the gateway status is healthy, you can change the existing virtual IP address.
On the Gateways page of the Cloud Storage Gateway (CSG) console, click the ID of the file gateway, and click Virtual IP Address.
On the Virtual IP Address tab, click Update VIP.
In the Configure Virtual IP Address dialog box, specify a virtual IP address for the vSwitch of the primary node.
Select the All Shares Unmounted and click OK.
Click Refresh.
Before you change the existing virtual IP address, make sure that all shares for the corresponding client are unmounted. Otherwise, the client may stop responding.
If you fail to update a virtual IP address, check whether the new IP address meets the requirements and whether all shares are unmounted from the client. You can retry the operation after a while.
You change the virtual IP address only when the gateway status is healthy.
