Cloud Monitor:Cloud service monitoring

Cloud Monitor automatically discovers cloud service resources in your Alibaba Cloud account. You can view monitoring charts to check resource status and configure alert rules to receive notifications when specified conditions are met.

Background

Available monitoring information varies by cloud service. For example, Server Load Balancer (SLB) provides instance lists, monitoring charts, and alert rule configuration.

View monitoring data

Check resource status and metric usage on the monitoring page for a cloud service.

  1. Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Cloud Resource Monitoring > Cloud Service Monitoring.

  3. On the Cloud Service Monitoring page, click the target cloud service.

  4. Find the target resource and click Monitoring Charts in the Actions column.

    The monitoring charts for the resource appear.

    Note

    A single query spans up to 30 days. Data is retained for at least 30 days, and completeness beyond 30 days is not guaranteed.

Set alert rules

Configure alert rules for cloud service resources. Cloud Monitor sends notifications when the specified conditions are met.

  1. Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Cloud Resource Monitoring > Cloud Service Monitoring.

  3. On the Cloud Service Monitoring page, select a cloud service and configure alert rules for Metric Monitoring or Quota Monitoring.

    • Metric Monitoring: Click a cloud service to open its resource list.

      1. Find the target resource and click Alert Rules in the Actions column.

      2. On the Alert Rules page, click Create Alert Rule.

      3. In the Create Alert Rule panel, configure the alert rule parameters.

      4. Click Confirm.

    • Quota Monitoring: Click a cloud service to open its resource list. Set alert rules for resources under General Quotas or API Rate Limits.

      1. Find the target resource and click Alert Rules in the Actions column, or click Global Alert Rule in the upper-right corner.

        Note

        Global Alert Rules: Alert rules that apply to all resource quotas of the target cloud service.

      2. Click Create Alert Rule and configure the alert rule parameters.

      3. Click OK.

View alert rules

View all alert rules configured for a cloud service on its monitoring page.

  1. Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Cloud Resource Monitoring > Cloud Service Monitoring.

  3. On the Cloud Service Monitoring page, click a cloud service to open its resource list. View alert rules for Metric Monitoring or Quota Monitoring.

  4. Find the target instance and click Alert Rules in the Actions column.
