Cloud Monitor:Monitor resources in multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments

Last Updated:Jun 17, 2026

In multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments, monitoring data is scattered across cloud platforms and on-premises data centers. You can use Cloud Monitor to create a namespace, import monitoring data into it, and visualize the data in dashboards for centralized monitoring. This topic uses Alibaba Cloud and an on-premises data center as an example.

Prerequisites

Hybrid Cloud Monitoring is activated. For more information, see Enable Hybrid Cloud Monitoring.

Note

For information about the billing of dashboards, see Billing of the dashboard feature.

Step 1: Create a namespace

Create a namespace to manage resource data in hybrid clouds.

  1. Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Hybrid Cloud Monitoring > Namespace.

  3. On the Namespace page, click Create Namespace.

  4. In the Manage Namespace panel, enter a name for the namespace and leave the other parameters at their default values.

  5. Click OK.

Step 2: Import monitoring data from Alibaba Cloud and the data center to the namespace

Import monitoring data from Alibaba Cloud and the data center into the namespace for centralized management.

  1. Import monitoring data from Alibaba Cloud to the namespace.

For more information, see Manage metrics of Alibaba Cloud services.

  2. Import monitoring data from the data center to the namespace.

For more information, see Manage metric import tasks for self-managed data centers.

  3. View the monitoring data of Alibaba Cloud and the data center.

Click the name of the namespace. On the Namespace Details page, you can view all metrics in the namespace.

Step 3: Create a dashboard

Create a custom dashboard to visualize the monitoring data from Alibaba Cloud and the data center.

  1. In the left-side navigation pane, click Dashboards.

  2. On the Dashboards page, click View Dashboard in the upper-left corner.

  3. Create a custom dashboard. For more information, see Step 4 to Step 8 in the "Create a custom dashboard" topic.

  4. In the left-side navigation pane of the Grafana console, choose Dashboard > Manage to view the dashboard.
