Cloud Monitor:Manage Alibaba Cloud service metrics

Last Updated:May 10, 2026

You can add metrics from your Alibaba Cloud services, and then create a dashboard to view monitoring charts for specific metrics.

Prerequisites

Make sure that you have created a namespace. For more information, see Create a namespace.

Background

A tag added to an Alibaba Cloud service resource may take up to one hour to appear in Hybrid Cloud Monitoring. Displayed resource tags may differ from the original ones. To ensure compatibility with the Prometheus protocol, Hybrid Cloud Monitoring modifies non-compliant tags based on the following rules:

  • If a tag does not start with [a-zA-Z_], the prefix f_ is added. For example, the tag 66 is changed to f_66.

  • If a tag contains characters other than [a-zA-Z0-9_], the invalid characters are replaced with underscores (_). For example, the tag test.6 is changed to test_6.

  • If a tag starts with two or more underscores (_), such as __my_key__ or ___my_key___, unexpected errors may occur.

The tag_ prefix is added to all tags within Hybrid Cloud Monitoring. Tags that do not comply with the Prometheus protocol are modified according to the rules above before this prefix is added. For example, the original tag test.6 is changed to tag_test_6.

Add Alibaba Cloud service metrics

  1. Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Hybrid Cloud Monitoring > Namespace.

  3. Click the number of accounts, services, metrics, or tasks in the Metric data column for the target namespace.

    Note

This number is the total count of metric import tasks from sources such as on-premises data centers, AWS, Tencent Cloud, Prometheus, on-premises logs, and Simple Log Service (SLS).

  4. On the Metric management panel, go to the Alibaba Cloud service metrics tab to add metrics for an Alibaba Cloud service.

    • Single account

When you use an Alibaba Cloud account or a RAM user to log on to the Cloud Monitor console, you can only connect to Alibaba Cloud services within that account.

      1. Add an Alibaba Cloud service.

        1. Click the image.png icon next to Current Account.

        2. In the Add Product dialog box, select the target Alibaba Cloud service and click OK.

        2. In the Add metric dialog box, select the metrics that you want to add, and then click OK.

    • Multiple accounts

If you log on to the Cloud Monitor console by using a management account, you can connect Alibaba Cloud services from any member account in your Resource Directory. You can then use Resource Directory to centrally monitor metrics from Alibaba Cloud services across multiple accounts. For more information about trusted service integration with Resource Directory, see Overview of trusted services.

      1. Add a member account.

        1. Click Add Account next to All Accounts.

        2. In the Add Account dialog box, select the target member account, and then click OK.

      2. Add an Alibaba Cloud service.

        1. Click the image.png icon next to the target member account.

        2. In the Add Product dialog box, select the target Alibaba Cloud service and click OK.

      3. Add metrics for the Alibaba Cloud service.
