Cloud Backup:Get started with data synchronization

You can synchronize data from Apsara File Storage NAS (NAS), Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), Object Storage Service (OSS), and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) to a destination in the Cloud Backup console. This topic describes the steps required for this scenario.

To synchronize data in the Cloud Backup console, perform the following steps:

Before you synchronize data from Apsara File Storage for HDFS file systems or on-premises NAS file systems, install the Cloud Backup client on the servers where the data sources are located. The client is used to establish data connections and manage services with Cloud Backup.

  1. Activate Cloud Backup

    You are not charged for activating Cloud Backup. You are not charged for using the data synchronization feature of Cloud Backup. You are charged for using NAS to read files over the Internet and store files. You are charged for using OSS to store files. For more information, see Billing overview of NAS and Billing overview of OSS.

  2. Install the Cloud Backup client

    Before you synchronize data from Apsara File Storage for HDFS file systems or on-premises NAS file systems, install the Cloud Backup client on the servers where the data sources are located. The client is used to establish data connections and manage services with Cloud Backup.

  3. Add data sources

    Add data sources such as Apsara File Storage for HDFS file systems and on-premises NAS file systems in the Cloud Backup console.

  4. Create a data synchronization plan

    Create a data synchronization plan. Cloud Backup runs the plan and continuously synchronizes data based on the plan.
