ApsaraDB for ClickHouse:Expiration and overdue payments

Last Updated:Mar 30, 2026

When a cluster expires or your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, ApsaraDB for ClickHouse locks the cluster and eventually deletes all data. Renew your cluster or clear the overdue payment as soon as possible to avoid service disruption and data loss.

Warning

While a cluster is locked, you are still charged for any Classic Load Balancer (CLB) instance mounted to it. If you no longer need the cluster, release the CLB instance to stop incurring additional charges. For more information, see Release and mount a CLB instance.

Cluster type

Cluster status

Subscription cluster

  • On the 16th day after the cluster expires, it is locked and cannot be accessed.

  • On the 16th day after the cluster is locked, its compute resources are released and its data is erased.

Pay-as-you-go cluster

  • If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, all pay-as-you-go clusters in the account enter an overdue state.

  • From Day 2 to Day 15 after the payment becomes overdue, the cluster is locked and cannot be accessed.

  • On the 16th day after the cluster is locked, its compute resources are released and its data is erased.

Impact timeline

The impact depends on your cluster's billing type.

CLB instance behavior

When a cluster is released, the mounted CLB instance is also released — except in one case: if the cluster was locked due to an overdue payment and then released, the CLB instance is not released. It is released automatically after the overdue payment is settled.

To avoid ongoing CLB charges for a cluster you no longer use, release the CLB instance manually. For more information, see Release and mount a CLB instance.
