Chat App Message Service Billing - Chat App Message Service

Chat App Message Service offers two billing models: Resource Plan and Pay-As-You-Go. This topic explains the billing rules, pricing, and examples for each model to help you plan your budget.

Billing models

Chat App Message Service offers two billing models:

Pay-as-you-go: Billing is based on your actual usage. Contact your Account Manager to enable this model.
Resource Plan: Purchase a Resource Plan in advance. You then use Points from the plan to pay for the service.

Important

If you have a Resource Plan, the system uses its Points first to pay for service fees. After the plan is depleted, you must purchase a new one. To use the Pay-as-you-go model, contact your Account Manager for details.
You cannot use Resource Plans if your Account is overdue. Refunds are not available for remaining Points, and you cannot extend a plan's Validity Period.
A Resource Plan is valid for 12 months from the date of Purchase. You must use the Points within the Validity Period. Any unused Points expire and cannot be used to pay for services.

2. Packages

To send messages using theChat App Message Service, you must first purchase a Package.

Pricing for the Chat App Message Service includes the Chat App Message Service fee and the WhatsApp messaging fee.

Note

Facebook Messenger and Instagram DMs: We do not currently charge message fees or Chat App Message Service fees.
SMS and Email: We do not currently charge Chat App Message Service fees. See Usage Details in the respective product consoles for messaging costs.
Pricing is subject to change. We will announce any billing changes in advance.

Chat App messaging fee

The Chat App service fee is a flat rate, regardless of country or region. Each message or service session costs 50 points.

WhatsApp messaging fees

The number of Points deducted depends on the destination Country or Region and Message Type (1 Point = 0.0001 USD).

Resource plan billing

Using a Resource Plan to send a Marketing Message to a user in Malaysia costs 910 Points, comprising a Message fee of 860 Points and a Chat App Message Service fee of 50 Points.

The rates for Authentication and Authentication-International messages in Egypt, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates take effect on February 1, 2025.
In the table, a hyphen (-) means the message type is not supported in the Country/Region.

3. Pay-as-you-go

The total cost includes the Chat App Message Service Platform fee and the messaging fee.

Note

Messenger and Instagram messages do not currently incur message fees or Chat App Message Service fees.
Email messages do not currently incur a Chat App Message Service fee. For message fees, see your usage details in the product console.

Billing example: For a Pay-as-you-go plan, the total cost to send a marketing message to a user in Malaysia is: USD 0.086 (list price) + USD 0.005 (Chat App Message Service fee) = USD 0.091.

Chat App messaging fee

A flat service fee of USD 0.005 is charged per message or Session, regardless of country or Region.

WhatsApp message fee

The WhatsApp Message Fee varies by country/region and message type.

Viber message fees

Note

Viber messages currently support only the Pay-as-you-go billing model.
The Monthly Fee for a Viber Service ID is waived for the month of activation. Billing begins the following month.
The International Message Rate applies when you send a message from your Viber Service ID to a country or region outside your registered business location. This rate is the same for all message types.

Message fees vary by destination country or region and message type.

A flat Monthly Fee of 197 USD applies, regardless of the country or region. If your total usage charges for the month are less than the Monthly Fee, you are charged the full Monthly Fee. If they exceed the Monthly Fee, you are billed for your actual usage.

If your business operates in a special industry, such as micro-loans, lending, gambling, or betting, contact your account manager to confirm pricing.
You must ensure that your message content is lawful. Sending prohibited content may result in account suspension by Viber or penalty fees. Prohibited content includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Content that infringes on or violates any rights, including third-party Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
- Content that is abusive, discriminatory, or harassing.
- Content that is illegal under any applicable laws or regulations.
- Content that contains or transmits Viruses, Worms, Defects, Trojan Horses, or any other Malicious Code.

Important

In Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine, only approved Template Messages are supported. You must submit templates to Viber for approval. If you send non-template messages, such as plain text, or any unapproved Template Message to these countries, you will be charged at the Promotional Message rate.
