This topic describes the pricing model and billable items of Chat App Message Service.
Billable items
WhatsApp messages
When you use Chat App Message Service to send WhatsApp messages, you are charged WhatsApp message fees and Chat App service fees.
Marketing, utility, and authentication messages delivered outside of a customer service window are charged per-message according to the official pricing of WhatsApp. The service conversation is charged on a per-conversation basis.
The pricing model (per-message or per-conversation) of Chat App depends on the corresponding billing rules of WhatsApp. The fees are calculated based on Receipts.
Examples:
Pay-as-you-go billing method: When you send a marketing message to a Malaysian user, the official catalog price for marketing messages is USD 0.086 per message, and the Chat App service fee is USD 0.005 per message. Total charge: USD 0.086 + 0.005 = USD 0.091.
Resource plan: When you send a marketing message to a Malaysian user, the cost is 860 points per marketing message and 50 points per message for the Chat App service fee. Total points deducted: 860 + 50 = 910 points.
Viber messages
When you use Chat App Message Service to send Viber messages, you are charged Viber message fees and Chat App service fees.

Chat App Message service fees are charged per message or per session based on Webhook statistics.
Example:
When a merchant sends an OTP template message to a user in the Philippines, the official Viber catalog price for OTP template messages in the Philippines is USD 0.0031 per message, and the Chat App service fee is USD 0.005 per message. The total charge is: USD 0.0031 + USD 0.005 = USD 0.0081.
Other message types
Facebook Messenger and Instagram DMs: No message fees and Chat App service fees are charged. We will keep you updated on any changes to the billing policy.
SMS and email messages: You are charged only the message fees associated with the corresponding Alibaba Cloud product (Short Message Service or Direct Mail). No additional fees for Chat App are incurred. For details of message fees, go to the console of the corresponding Alibaba Cloud product.
Billing
WhatsApp message fees: keep in line with official WhatsApp pricing.
Viber message fees: refer to Viber message fees.
Chat App service fees: unified across countries and regions. USD 0.005 per message or per conversation.
NoteA conversation is a message exchange with a customer that occurs within 24 hours. When a customer sends you a message, a service window is open and the billing starts.
Intelligent Chatbot: supports only the pay-as-you-go billing method. You are charged USD 0.0055 per call.
ImportantIntelligent Chatbot will discontinue its service starting July 1, 2025.
When the message delivery receipts of an IM service provider has a significant delay, affecting the accuracy of billing data, we will bill based on the actual date when the receipts are received.
WhatsApp catalog prices
WhatsApp may update prices at any time; specific pricing is subject to the official WhatsApp rates.
