Cloud Governance Center:Enable the multi-account governance maturity check feature

Last Updated:Nov 20, 2025

By default, you can perform a governance maturity check only for the account that you use to access Cloud Governance Center. If you have activated Resource Directory, you can use the management account of a resource directory to enable the multi-account governance maturity check feature. This way, you can perform a governance maturity check for all members within the resource directory.

Impacts

  • After you enable the multi-account governance maturity check feature, Cloud Governance Center will be activated for all members in the resource directory. If a member is created in the resource directory, Cloud Governance Center is automatically activated for the member.

  • Cloud Config will create compliance packages for all members and add rules to each compliance package.

  • All members in the resource directory must comply with the check criteria set by the management account. If Cloud Governance Center is separately activated for a member, the check criteria with which the member complies may be inconsistent with those set by the management account and the check score generated based on the check criteria with which the member complies may be different from that generated based on the check criteria set by the management account.

  • Members in the resource directory cannot disable the governance maturity check feature.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Cloud Governance Center console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Well-Architected Framework > Governance Maturity Check.

  3. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Upgrade to Multi-account Maturity Check.

  4. In the Upgrade to Multi-account Maturity Check dialog box, read the usage notes and click Confirm Upgrade.

After the feature is enabled, the management account of a resource directory can view the check results of all members in the resource directory.
