Alibaba Cloud Service Mesh:Upgrade ASM metrics and dashboards

Last Updated:Jun 20, 2026

Service Mesh (ASM) enables gateways and sidecar proxies on the data plane to generate metrics about their operational status. Managed Service for Prometheus collects these metrics for visualization and analysis. ASM is continuously updated to support more metrics and provide enhanced dashboards for comprehensive, multi-dimensional monitoring. This topic outlines how to upgrade to the latest metrics and dashboards after a new ASM version is released.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Integration Management. On the Integrated Environments tab, view all integrated environments.

  3. In the Cluster Type column, find the target cluster by its ID.

  4. In the Environment Name/ID column, click the target environment to open its details page.

  5. For Addon Type, select Alibaba Cloud ASM. In the Component section, click Settings in the Actions column to update the component's version or configuration.

  6. In the Alibaba Cloud ASM Component Settings panel, click OK and confirm to upgrade using the latest configuration. Wait for the component to be reinstalled.

In the dialog box, the Component Version is 0.0.1 by default, and a message indicates that this component has no other configuration parameters.

Note

Updating the component version or any of its configurations also updates the dashboards and alert rules provided by the component. Updates occur in one of two ways:

  • The version number does not change if you only modify input parameters or if there are non-disruptive updates to the component's dashboards and alert rules.

  • If the version number changes, select the latest version on the settings page to complete the upgrade.

FAQ

Metric collection enabled, ASM component missing

Go to the Mesh Management page and click the name of the target instance. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Observability Management Center > Monitoring metrics to check the metric collection status. After confirming the status is normal, return to the Integration Management page in ARMS to view the component.
