Key concepts
Before choosing a resource plan, understand these core concepts:

| Agent | A monitor that runs on one application instance (for example, a Tomcat instance or a Java process). One agent monitors one instance. |
| Agent-hour | The billing unit for Application Monitoring Platinum Edition. One agent running for one hour equals one agent-hour. Periods shorter than one hour are rounded up to one hour. |
| Resource plan | A prepaid bundle of agent-hours purchased at a discounted rate. Resource plans have a fixed quota that is not reset monthly. |
| Depletion fallback | When a resource plan runs out, billing automatically switches to pay-as-you-go rates for the Platinum Edition. |

Higher-tier plans offer lower unit prices. For example, the Ultimate plan (USD 0.0081/agent-hour) costs 72% less per agent-hour than the Starter plan (USD 0.0287/agent-hour) in the Chinese mainland region.

Example 1: Small team A team monitors 10 application instances around the clock for 30 days.
Agent-hours consumed: 10 agents x 24 hours x 30 days = 7,200 agent-hours
Best fit: Intermediate plan (28,800 agent-hours) at USD 620.95 in the Chinese mainland region, which covers approximately 4 months at this scale.
Example 2: Medium deployment An organization monitors 100 application instances continuously for one year.
Agent-hours consumed: 100 agents x 24 hours x 365 days = 876,000 agent-hours
Best fit: Gold plan (876,000 agent-hours) at USD 9,881.73 in the Chinese mainland region, an exact match for this deployment.
Example 3: Large deployment A platform team monitors 500 microservice instances continuously for one year.
Agent-hours consumed: 500 agents x 24 hours x 365 days = 4,380,000 agent-hours
Best fit: Ultimate plan (4,380,000 agent-hours) at USD 35,292.24 in the Chinese mainland region, an exact match for this deployment.
Usage notes
Edition requirement: Enable the Platinum Edition before purchasing a resource plan. The Basic Edition cannot use resource plans to offset costs.
Consumption order: If multiple resource plans are active, they are consumed in order of expiration date (earliest first).
Depletion behavior: When all resource plans are depleted, billing automatically switches to pay-as-you-go rates for the Platinum Edition.
Calculation method: Agent-hours are calculated based on the total online duration of all application instances. Periods shorter than one hour are rounded up to one hour. Consumption is settled daily.
Data retention: Application Monitoring stores trace data for 30 days and metrics data for 90 days by default.
Fixed quota: Resource plan quotas are not reset monthly.
The list price displayed at the time of purchase is for reference only. The actual amount payable is based on the discounted price.
Billing cycle
ARMS settles resource consumption on a daily cycle:
At 00:00 each day, ARMS calculates the previous day's agent-hour consumption across all monitored application instances.
Bills are typically generated before 08:00 on the settlement day.
After a bill is generated, the system automatically deducts the amount from your account balance if the balance is sufficient.
Bill generation may be delayed. The actual time a bill is generated may vary.

ACK cluster discount
Applications deployed in Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK) clusters receive a 50% discount on Application Monitoring Pro Edition pricing. This discount has been in effect since February 10, 2020. We will notify you of any changes to this discount.
