If your ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ instance expires or your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, the instance may become unavailable. Renew your instance or add funds to your account before the grace period ends to prevent data loss.
Subscription
A subscription instance runs normally until its expiration date, regardless of your account balance. However, if your balance is below the required amount, you cannot purchase new instances, upgrade existing instances, or renew subscriptions.
After a subscription instance expires, it goes through the following lifecycle:
Phase | Duration | Service status | Data status | Action required |
Active | Before expiration | Fully operational | All data retained | None |
Grace period | 7 days after expiration | Unavailable. The ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ console and API operations are both disabled. | Metadata retained, including instance, topic, and consumer group configurations. | Renew the instance to restore service. |
Released | After the 7-day grace period | Instance permanently deleted | All metadata deleted and cannot be recovered. | Re-create the instance. |
Pay-as-you-go and serverless
Pay-as-you-go and serverless instances are billed hourly. At the start of each hour, ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ settles fees for the previous hour and deducts them from your account balance. Bills are generated automatically, though delivery times may vary.
When your account has an overdue payment, the ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ service is affected as follows:
Service suspension
The console and OpenAPI become unavailable.
Metadata, such as instances, topics, and consumer groups, is retained.
During this period, if you pay the overdue amount, your instance resumes normal operation.
A serverless instance relies on a PrivateLink endpoint for network access. If the endpoint has an overdue payment for 7 days, it is automatically released and cannot be recovered. If your serverless instance is still unavailable after you pay the overdue amount, perform the following steps to check the endpoint status:
Log on to the VPC console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Endpoints.
In the endpoint list, find the endpoint associated with your serverless instance. The endpoint name contains the access point prefix of the serverless instance.
If the endpoint has been released, the serverless instance is permanently unavailable. You must release the instance and create a new one.
7 days after service suspension
If you do not pay the overdue amount for the instance within 7 days after the service is suspended, the instance is released, and all its data, such as topics and consumer groups, is deleted and cannot be recovered.
