When an ApsaraMQ for RabbitMQ instance expires or your Alibaba Cloud account has overdue payments, the service is suspended and resources enter a 7-day retention period. After the retention period ends, all resources are permanently deleted and cannot be restored.
Subscription instances
The validity period of a subscription instance depends on the purchased duration. After a subscription instance expires, resources go through the following stages.
| Stage | Duration | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Service suspension | Immediately upon expiration | The ApsaraMQ for RabbitMQ service is suspended. The instance, vhosts, exchanges, and queues are retained. |
| Resource deletion | 7 days after expiration without renewal | The instance is released. All vhosts, exchanges, and queues are permanently deleted. |
Deleted data cannot be restored. Renew your instance before the 7-day retention period ends.
Serverless instances
When your Alibaba Cloud account balance is insufficient to cover the bill, the account becomes overdue and resources go through the following stages.
| Stage | Duration | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Service suspension | Immediately when the account becomes overdue | The ApsaraMQ for RabbitMQ service is suspended. The instance, vhosts, exchanges, and queues are retained. |
| Resource deletion | 7 days after service suspension without top-up | The instance is released. All vhosts, exchanges, and queues are permanently deleted. |
Deleted data cannot be restored. Top up your account before the 7-day retention period ends.
Prevent data loss
Take the following measures to avoid service suspension and data loss:
Enable auto-renewal for subscription instances to renew automatically before expiration.
Set up balance alerts to receive notifications before your account balance runs low.
Renew or top up promptly after receiving an expiration or overdue payment notification.
