Your ApsaraDB for HBase instances cannot run as expected when they expire or when your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment for the instances. To continue to use the instances, you must renew them or enable auto-renewal in a timely manner.

If your ApsaraDB for HBase instances expire or when your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment for the instances, the instances can be handled in different ways based on the billing method and the time elapsed since the expiration date or payment overdue date of the instance. The following table describes the details on how instances are handled.
Billing methodImpact on instancesHow to restore
SubscriptionIn the first seven days after your instances expire, the instances are locked and cannot be accessed. Manually renew the instances. For more information about how to renew the instances, see Manually renew a subscription instance.
Warning To prevent data loss, we recommend that you enable auto-renewal for the instances. For more information, see Enable auto-renewal.
On the eighth day after your instances expire, the computing resources of the instances are released. However, the data backups of the instances are retained until the fifteenth day after the instances expire. The instances are in the Released state. The data of the instances that are in the recycle bin is retained for seven days and then automatically deleted. For more information about the recycle bin, see Manage instances in the recycle bin. You cannot directly restore the instances from the recycle bin. To restore the instances, submit a ticket to apply for temporary restoration and then migrate the data within a specific period of time.
On the sixteenth day after your instances expire, the data backups of the instances are deleted.
Warning To retain the data in the instances, you must renew the instances before they are deleted. Otherwise, the data cannot be restored.
The data is permanently deleted and cannot be restored.
Pay-as-you-go
  • You can continue to use your instances on the first day after your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment.
  • Your instances are locked since the second day after your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment. However, if the amount of your overdue payment does not exceed the overdraft threshold of your Alibaba Cloud account, your instances are not locked. During the grace period, you receive a text message reminder once a day.
Note Alibaba Cloud supports a grace period. During the grace period, you can still use pay-as-you-go resources for which the bill does not exceed an overdraft threshold even if your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment. You are still charged for using the resources within the grace period. The overdraft threshold is not the maximum overdue payment that is allowed. The grace period and the overdraft threshold of your Alibaba Cloud account vary based on multiple factors, such as the account level and the previous credit of the account. The system automatically calculates and updates the grace period and overdraft threshold on a monthly basis.
  • If the overdraft threshold is exceeded, Alibaba Cloud locks your instances and stops billing.
Before your data is released, add funds to your account, and then your instances can be restored. For more information about how to add funds to your account, visit the Account Overview page.
If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment for more than seven days, you are deemed to voluntarily discard your pay-as-you-go instances. Then, Alibaba Cloud releases the instances and deletes the data in the instances. The deleted data cannot be restored. The data is permanently deleted and cannot be restored.
